No Man’s Sky adds crossplay and will join Xbox Game Pass

A new update will bring crossplay to No Man’s Sky on Thursday, June 11, allowing PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC players to play No Man’s Sky together for the first time.

“Making No Man’s Sky available to vast new audiences, and allowing those audiences to come together, has been something we’ve been building towards for a long time,” Hello Games founder Sean Murray said in a statement. “We’re lucky to have one of the nicest and most welcoming gaming communities there is, and it’s a delight to be able to allow them to play together.”

Players can be matched with others across platforms on the Space Anomaly, in space, or on planets. Players from the same platform as you will be identified with a corresponding icon, and anyone using a different platform will be displayed with a controller icon.

No Man’s Sky joins the growing list of other cross-platform games, including Fortnite, Rocket League, Minecraft, as more publishers have started warming to the practice.

No Man’s Sky will also be available on Xbox Game Pass starting June 11 for both Xbox One and Windows. A new Windows 10 version of the game will launch alongside the update.

Hello Games hinted at these “ambitious additions” to No Man’s Sky and several free updates, that included the Beyond update that added a free multiplayer mode named No Man’s Sky Online, back in April.

“Making No Man’s Sky available to vast new audiences, and allowing those audiences to come together, has been something we’ve been building toward for a long time,” Murray added. “We’re lucky to have one of the nicest and most welcoming gaming communities there is, and it’s a delight to be able to allow them to play together. The big question is, who have you always wanted to play with?”

Xbox Game Pass is getting 2 of January’s biggest games

Both Sniper Elite: Resistance and Citizen Sleeper 2 are making their way to Game Pass before the end of the month, along with a slew of other must-play titles. Although games come and go from the service, Game Pass rarely adds as many notable games at once as it has this month. January is host to several day-one releases, as well as several updates and DLC that promise to change up your most-played games.
Sniper Elite: Resistance — January 30

Few games can compare themselves to the Sniper Elite franchise in terms of gameplay. Combining stealth and tactical combat, Sniper Elite: Resistance isn't just a sniping sim. You'll have to think carefully about your targets and find the right way to line up your shot without being targeted.
Citizen Sleeper 2 — January 31
The original Citizen Sleeper was one heck of an RPG, and Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector builds on that formula with an amnesiac android with a busted body. Find a ship, find a crew, keep flying. It's like cyborg Firefly, kind of — and that's incredibly exciting.

Lonely Mountain: Snow Riders is a follow up to Lonely Mountains: Downhill, a Trials-like experience that has you master the mountain trails on skis, racing against other players in online multiplayer or trying to set the best time possible. Lonely Mountain: Snow Riders is available today on Game Pass.
