Shrinking trailer: Jason Segel is a grieving therapist who breaks the rules

What if therapists told you what they really think? How would you react? Jason Segel (How I Met Your Mother) is a therapist who starts to tell the truth in the trailer for Shrinking, a new comedy series from Apple TV+.

Segel plays Jimmy Laird, a therapist struggling to cope with the loss of his wife. As a result of his grief, Jimmy reaches his breaking point and shares brutally honest opinions during his sessions. The newfound approach to therapy gives Jimmy a new lease on life as he starts to break through with his patients. However, this strategy is a “breach of ethical barriers,” a sentiment shared by Jimmy’s fellow therapist and mentor, Dr. Paul Rhodes (Indiana Jones’s Harrison Ford).

All three will co-executive produce alongside Jeff Ingold and James Ponsoldt.

Will Smith races to freedom in Apple TV+’s Emancipation trailer
Will Smith in Emancipation

For the better part of three decades, Will Smith has been one of the biggest box office draws in Hollywood. But at the moment, everything in his career is overshadowed by the fact that he slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars earlier this year. The incident has hung over Smith's head for months, but stars have weathered PR disasters before, and Hollywood loves a comeback story. Apple TV+'s new film Emancipation may be the start of that comeback for Smith, if the first trailer for the film is any indication of what's to come.

Jason Momoa runs in a city street in Sweet Girl.

In 2018, Jason Momoa signed a deal with Apple TV+ to star in the sci-fi drama series, See. While the third season of See is already on the way, it's no longer his only project with Apple TV+. Via Deadline, Momoa has signed on to write, executive produce, and star in Chief of War, a new original miniseries.

Momoa created Chief of War with Thomas Pa’a Sibbett, and the eight-episode miniseries will dramatize "the epic and unprecedented telling of the unification and colonization of Hawaii." However, the key aspect of this project is that it will be written from the "indigenous point of view," which means that it will be offering a fresh perspective of Hawaii's colonization that hasn't really been offered in the mainstream media before.
