Google’s Pixel Weather app is one of the newest forecasting apps on the market. And now the company is likely to soon introduce a unique feature designed to enhance the user experience and make Pixel Weather stand out in a very … unique way.

According to Android Authority, the app will include a new feature called “Immersive Weather Vibrations.” This feature will make supported Pixel phones vibrate in sync with weather animations, adding an exciting element for users.

The Google Pixel Weather app includes several key features, such as a customizable detail page, severe weather alerts, and radar and satellite overlays. It also provides information on sunrise and sunset times, the UV index, air quality, and more. This app was one of the few surprises revealed during the August announcement of the Google Pixel 9 series.

Alongside the new weather vibrations feature, Pixel Weather also recently introduced a pollen feature that tracks pollen index levels, types, and forecasts before you head outside.

Pixel Weather launched with the Pixel 9 series earlier this year, including the Pixel 9 Pro XL, and recently became available on older Pixel devices through the October Pixel Drop.

The new immersion feature of the Pixel Weather app might come across as gimmicky, but it’s encouraging to see Google try to stand out in the crowded world of weather apps. And since it’s free, there’s no reason not to try it.

The October Pixel Drop includes several new features, including theft protection, the ability to hide sensitive photos and videos, camera improvements, and more.

The Pixel Weather app’s newest features should arrive with the 1.0.20240910.678970266 app update.

New abilities are coming to Google Pixel phones as part of the March 2025 features updates, with the latest version of Pixel Camera beginning its rollout. Users can look forward to an updated astrophotography mode, and those with newer devices have access to a remote camera capability as well.

Pixel Camera 9.0 has begun its rollout, according to 9to5Google, though it might be a while before you see the update on your device as these feature rollouts typically take some time to reach all users. The popular astrophotography mode which allows users to take photos of the night sky, including views that would normally require specialist camera gear to capture, is getting a facelift with an animation mode during capture. This option is enabled by default but can be toggled in the Settings > Advanced screen.

In 2023, rumors of a new Google AI assistant (nicknamed "Pixie") began to emerge. The idea of an on-device smart assistant appealed for a number of reasons, privacy and performance among them, but it missed its planned launch date. Google hasn't said anything else about it, until now — Pixie is back as Pixel Sense, and is slated to release with the Google Pixel 10.

Google describes the new app with one line: "Get the most personalized experienced based on the things you do on your Pixel," according to Android Authority. In other words, Pixel Sense will pull and collate data from your other apps, as well as from texts, images, and media files. It can also use screenshots in a similar way as the Pixel Screenshot function.

Google Pixel 9 is getting a scam detection upgrade you’ll want on your phone
Google’s Scam Detection for calls on Pixel 9.

Over three months ago, Google started beta testing a new safety feature for Pixel phones that can sense signs of a fraud in voice calls using AI analysis. Today, Google has officially launched the Scam Detection feature for calls, alongside a similar con-screening system for messages.
Every year, smartphone users lose millions of dollars to elaborate schemes across the world. The problem is so rampant that the US Office of Inspector General and the Federal Trade Commission have published guidelines on recognising and reporting such deception.

Hearing calls to flag risks
To look for signs of scam in an ongoing call, Google is pushing the natural language understanding of on-device Gemini Nano AI on Pixel phones. The AI will listen to the ongoing telephonic conversation in  real time, and if it detects a risky pattern, an alert will pop up.
