This week and every week for the remainder of the NFL season, we will bring you weekly game predictions courtesy of EA Sports’ Madden NFL 25. Our methodology: Each week we will update the rosters using the game’s roster download feature to make sure the game lineups reflect the real teams, then we’ll simulate the week’s match-ups using the Franchise Owner mode. We’ll record the simulation’s scores, its best players of the week, and the injury reports, then post these results each Saturday. This makes the Thursday game something of a litmus test – you can use this info for fantasy or gambling purposes. Or you can ignore it entirely. What does Madden know about football, anyway?
Following a particularly bloody injury list last week, Madden 25 eases off hurting people and lays waste to only three star players in Week 4 – as well as the souls of Atlanta Falcons fans.
According to the simulations, the Atlanta Falcons will score 37 points, putting them in a tie for the second most points scored this week. They will still lose by 22 points.
In what would tie the third highest scoring game in NFL history, the New England Patriots are picked to top Atlanta’s 37 points with 59 of its own. That combined score of 96 would be just 17 points shy of matching the highest scoring game of all time, which saw the Redskins beat the Giants back in 1966, before the first Super Bowl was even held. If you are a fantasy player and Madden is correct, for the love of God be sure to play Tom Brady or Matt Ryan.
Madden’s streak of correctly picking Thursday night games has also come to an end following the 49ers whupping of the Rams. Last week though, Madden 25 went a respectable 10 and 6. It also managed to pick a few of the scores with accuracy that would make Vegas odds makers jealous. It simulated that the Saints would beat the Cardinals 38 to 6, and the actual score was 31 to 7. It picked the Bengals over the Packers by 3, and they won by 4. It even picked the Patriots to beat the Buccaneers 23 to 3, which was the exact score. If this were the 1700s, Madden 25 would be burned at the stake for witchcraft.
