Fallout 4‘s Far Harbor expansion will launch digitally for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC platforms on May 19.
Far Harbor kicks off with players tackling a missing-persons case from Valentine’s Detective Agency in Diamond City. The quest leads players to an island off the coast of Maine, where high radiation levels have led to never-before-seen threats from mutated wildlife and other dangerous creatures.
Bethesda revealed that Far Harbor’s storyline centers on a brewing conflict between the residents of a small island town, a hidden band of synths (androids), and the Children of Atom cult. Decisions players make throughout the expansion will either bring peace or reignite conflict among the warring parties.
Fallout 4‘s developers note that the upcoming Far Harbor expansion “features the largest landmass for an add-on that Bethesda Game Studios has ever created, filled with new faction quests, settlements, lethal creatures and dungeons.” Players who brave Far Harbor’s challenges can look forward to receiving high-level armor and weapons for successfully completing its included questlines.
Far Harbor follows up on Fallout 4‘s initial batch of DLC expansions, which premiered earlier this year. The Automatron pack, released in March, allowed players to build customizable robot companions using an included array of parts, mods, and paint schemes. April’s Wasteland Workshop DLC introduced other minor features like tube lighting, taxidermy, and cages for capturing live animals.
Far Harbor will be free to download for players who have purchased Fallout 4‘s Season Pass, and will also be available as a standalone download priced at $25.
