A landmark adventure game from Japanese developer Grasshopper Manufacture and No More Heroes series director Goichi Suda (aka Suda51) will be playable in English for the first time ever with the upcoming PC launch of The Silver Case HD, Famitsu revealed this week.

Developed in collaboration with indie-focused Japanese publisher Playism, The Silver Case HD will feature remastered graphics and other improvements compared to its original 1999 release.

The Silver Case, known as Silver Jiken in Japan, was the directorial debut from Suda, who also goes by Suda51, under his newly formed Grasshopper Manufacture studio. Released exclusively for the original PlayStation, The Silver Case is a point-and-click adventure game with a distinct visual style and a memorable plot that, to date, has remained inaccessible for players outside of Japan.

The Silver Case spawned a PlayStation 2 sequel, Flower, Sun, and Rain, which was ported to the Nintendo DS in 2008. Despite its predecessor chapter never being released in English, a localized version of Flower, Sun, and Rain eventually shipped to retail in North America and Europe.

Suda afterward directed the GameCube and PlayStation 2 psychological thriller Killer7 before achieving mainstream success with the Wii follow-up No More Heroes, an open-world adventure game known for its hyper-violent action and twisting narrative. A sequel, No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle, shipped for the Wii in 2010.

Recent Suda productions include the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 third-person shooter Shadows of the Damned, gory beat-’em-up Lollipop Chainsaw, and the 2013 adventure game Killer Is Dead. Suda is currently working on Let It Die, a free-to-play action game for the PlayStation 4 inspired by From Software’s Dark Souls series.

Studio Active Gaming Media will produce an English-language localization for The Silver Case‘s upcoming PC debut, and a worldwide release is scheduled for this fall.

The Last of Us Part 3: everything we know so far
Ellie holds a guitar in the forest in The Last of Us Part 2.

The original The Last of Us ended ambiguously but didn't necessitate a sequel. However, Neil Druckmann and the team at Naughty Dog felt there were more stories to tell in that world, resulting in the equally impressive The Last of Us Part 2. Unlike the first game, though, the sequel left many questions unanswered that demanded at least one more upcoming video game.

Initially, the team was working on a multiplayer spinoff called The Last of Us Online, however, we now know that project has been abandoned and the team is once again focusing on single-player games. One of those games is indeed The Last of Us Part 3. Naughty Dog is considered one of the best studios at PlayStation, alongside Insomniac and its upcoming PS5 game Marvel's Wolverine and Suckerpunch's Ghost of Yotei.
