It means occupants of the upcoming luxury SUVs will be able to kick back and enjoy Fire TV’s entertainment offerings via a plethora of screens.

The Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer will be the first vehicles in the auto industry to integrate Amazon Fire TV for Auto, and the news comes just over a year after the e-commerce giant announced the vehicle-based version of its system.

Fire TV for Auto will hook up with the Uconnect 5 infotainment software to allow users to sync the system with their Amazon account. It means, for example, you’ll be able to pause a show in the car and carry on from where you left off when you get home.

Passengers will be able to watch Fire TV in HD from the rear seats and the front passenger screen. A privacy filter will prevent drivers from watching the content while motoring along the highway, though the main display will show content when the vehicle is in park.

Importantly, you’ll be able to download content for offline viewing so you won’t be stuck if you’re driving in the middle of nowhere and find yourself without a network connection.

And, of course, Alexa will be riding alongside you in the vehicle, enabling full voice control of Amazon’s entertainment platform. The digital assistant can be enabled via a Fire TV for Auto-specific remote that offers push-to-talk access. The entire system can also be controlled via the vehicle’s touchscreens.

“The all-new 2022 model-year Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer are designed and engineered to set a new standard for American premium in the large SUV segment,” Jeep brand CEO Christian Meunier said in a release on Thursday, March 5. “Launching Fire TV for Auto as an industry-first technology to the Wagoneer lineup illustrates one of the many ways we intend to deliver class-leading technology and connectivity to our customers.”

Jeep is set to unveil the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer on March 11. The automaker revealed a concept design of the vehicle in 2020, which should be close to the real thing.

Insignia F50 Amazon Fire TV Edition smart TV.

Amazon's Fire TV Edition smart TVs, which were created in collaboration with Best Buy, have always focused on the very affordable end of the market, with dozens of models that cost well under $500. But today's announcement of the partnership's first quantum dot-based 4K HDR model -- the Insignia F50 -- represents the beginning of what might be a move up-market for smart TVs that are powered by Amazon's Fire TV software.

The Insignia F50 starts at $600 for a 50-inch model, making it the most expensive Fire TV Edition model of that size. It will be available later this year along with these additional sizes:

In 2020, Amazon added the ability to do two-way video calls from its Fire TV Cube streaming media devices. At the time, those calls could only be made between Alexa-enabled devices with a screen, like the Echo Show. Now, Amazon is greatly expanding how you can use video calling on the Fire TV Cube through the addition of Zoom support, making your TV a giant Zoom device.

To take advantage of the new feature, you'll need:

When it comes to the integration of streaming platforms and smart TVs, the Roku OS and Google's Android TV have commanding leads, with tons of different models from brands like TCL, Hisense, and Sony. Amazon's Fire TV has languished, relatively speaking, with only a handful of options from Insignia and Toshiba -- most of which aren't 4K or HDR-capable. But today, there's a new Toshiba Fire TV model in town -- the C350 Series -- and it gives Amazon's streaming software a stylish new home while keeping prices low.

The Toshiba C350 Series, which goes by the label "Smart Fire TV" instead of the older "Fire TV Edition" moniker, is easily the best-looking TV to sport Amazon's smart TV software so far. It's a Best Buy exclusive for brick-and-mortar stores, but you'll also find it on Amazon.com
