Alienware 34 QD-OLED is already sold out, because of course it is

The Alienware 34 QD-OLED monitor is already sold out after having gone on sale just this morning.

The highly anticipated 34-inch gaming monitor sells for $1,400 and features a curved design, high response rate, Nvidia G-Sync Ultimate certification, and an array of ports and included cables among its highlight features.

In our review of the Alienware 34 QD-OLED, we cited its QD-OLED contrast, HDR performance, color saturation, minimalist design, and affordable price as its most positive attributes.

Specs include a 34-inch size with a 21:9 aspect ratio, 175Hz refresh rate, and 1800R curve. Its brightness and HDR performance, though, are what it make it so special. Alienware claims a peak brightness up to 1,000 nits in HDR, and that’s exactly what we were able to measure on it.

Included cables include one DisplayPort to DisplayPort, one Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort, and one SuperSpeed USB cable.

Ports on the back include two HDMI 2.0, a DisplayPort 1.4, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 downstream with Battery Charging 1.2 support, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 downstream, a USB 3.2 Gen 1 upstream, an audio line-out, and a headphone jack.

The monitor’s G-Sync Ultimate feature also aids in the overall performance of its high refresh rate.

Gaming monitors with OLED technology remain uncommon on the market. LG recently announced its 48-inch UltraGear 48GQ900 monitor; however, the brand has yet to reveal the price of the product. It is expected that the monitor might be on the expensive side due to its size and OLED display. This monitor also has other highlight features, such as 4K resolution, but it’s a significantly larger display.

The release of Alienware’s OLED monitor, with a curved design nonetheless, is an indication that the display technology might be set to come in a range. The Alienware 34 uses a QD-OLED display panel made by Samsung, which appears to be cheaper than the traditional OLED panel.

Overall, component price is a large reason why OLED displays aren’t common in gaming monitors. Alienware released a 55-inch Alienware OLED gaming monitor in 2019 that cost a whopping $4,000. Its price later dropped to $2,500.

The Alienware 34 QD-OLED currently appears to be completely out of stock, with no clear indication of when more supply will drop.

Asus is finally sharing more details about its upcoming ROG Swift PG27AQDP, which looks to earn a slot among the best gaming monitors. We first saw this monitor at the beginning of the year, where it stood out as the first OLED monitor ever to reach at 480Hz refresh rate at 1440p. Since originally showing it off, Asus has been quiet about the display -- until now.

The PG27AQDP officially launched at Gamescom, and it's arriving at a shockingly low price of $1,000. That's not cheap for a gaming monitor, or even an OLED monitor, but it's much lower than the competition. The Acer Predator X27U F3, which matches Asus' display in terms of specs and is due out any week now, could cost as much as $1,600, Acer says. It's possible Acer will make a last-minute pricing adjustment in the face of the PG27AQDP.

Alienware is cooking up something interesting. The brand already produces some of the best gaming monitors you can buy, including the legendary Alienware 34 QD-OLED, but now it's diving into uncharted territory. The AW2725QF is a 27-inch 4K gaming monitor that comes with a dual refresh rate feature, allowing you to switch between 4K at 180Hz and 1080p at 360Hz at the press of a button.

We've seen this feature before on the LG UltraGear Dual Mode OLED, but Alienware's take is different. For starters, it's available on a 27-inch monitor -- LG's is a 32-inch monitor -- and it's switching between 180Hz and 360Hz. The size plays a big role here, too. Given that the Dual Mode OLED is 32 inches, the drop down to 1080p is very noticeable. On the AW2725QF, the switch between 4K and 1080p shouldn't be as drastic given the smaller size of the screen.

Samsung’s anticipated new Odyssey OLED gaming monitors start at $900

Samsung didn't have a presence at Computex 2024, but it did reveal some juicy new details on its highly anticipated new OLED gaming monitors to align with the event.

After originally being showcased at CES in January, the Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SD model) and Odyssey OLED G6 (G60SD model) will finally be available for order starting today, meaning we now have the official pricing for them as well. The Odyssey OLED G8 will sell for $1,300, while the smaller Odyssey G6 will cost $900. As a bonus, Samsung is offering up to a $300 Samsung credit on a future purchase when you order one of these models.
