If you have a couple thousand dollars lying around, you might want to see what Corsair is selling these days.
The company revealed three un-buffered DDR4 kits on May 14 for those who want the best in speed and bandwidth. The Vengeance LPX and two Dominator Platinums have eight 16GB modules, according to PCper.com. This means that they are only compatible with a handful of motherboards, such as the EVGA X99 Classified, ASRock X99 Extreme4 and Asus X99-E WS.
All three offer 128GB, but they vary in speed. While the Vengeance LPX and one of the Dominator Platinum models have speeds of 2400MHz, the third Dominator Platinum model has a speed of 2666MHz. And as if this isn’t enough, Corsair says that higher speeds will be announced in the near future.
The prices, though, are what have most people shocked, beginning with the $1,755 for the Vengeance LPX. And they only get more expensive from there, with the Dominator Platinum (2400MHz) starting at $1,980 and its successor (2666MHz) going for $2,120. However, it may be worth the investment if you’re in the market for an advanced memory kit for activities such as gaming.
The Dominator Platinum kits have patented DHX technology for cooler operation. They are only constructed with select memory ICs, and are screened for performance before hitting the market. The Vengeance LPX is made for high-performance overclocking with aluminum heat spreaders, which allow for faster heat dissipation. Additionally, it has an eight-layer PCB for overclocking headroom.
New DDR solutions have been making headlines as of late for their speed. Recently, HyperX announced that it had broken speed records with its DDR 128GB memory kit, reaching 3000MHz. The product was hooked up to a MSI X99 MPOWER motherboard and an Intel Core i7 5820K processor.
