At just $89, down from $130, the Samsung Galaxy Buds are an affordable way into true wireless earbuds while still providing excellent sound and high-quality manufacturing. The buds themselves have a healthy six hours of battery life and are sweatproof so they’re ideal for exercising. We were impressed with their light weight and comfortable fit, and the only drawback we found was the 7-hour battery life in the case, which isn’t as much as other true wireless earbud cases. But overall, a great option that’s even more compelling at this price.

The buds also connect to an app that helps you find the ideal sound for your particular needs. The buds are now available for $119, down from their original price of $150.

The best back-to-school gift is noise-canceling headphones. Here’s why
Man in cafe working on a laptop wearing Sony WH1000-XM4 wireless over-the-ear noise-canceling headphones.

Lindsay has a research paper on the laws of thermodynamics due at 1:00 p.m. sharp the next day so she's holed up at the school library because, by all accounts, it should be the quietest place on campus to get her work done. Unfortunately, Chad and Karen are two tables over giggling at memes on Reddit and the noise is driving her crazy. She pops in her aging Apple AirPods, but the battery is trash and, besides, they don't do squat to shield Lindsay from Karen's high-pitched giggles.

If only Lindsay's folks had known that noise-canceling headphones are the single most important tool for a good education, then perhaps they would have opted to get her a set of Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 or Sony WF-1000XM4 headphones as a back-to-school gift instead of an ergonomic laptop backpack, which is doing a great job of preventing Lindsay from experiencing premature sciatica, but doing absolutely zero to help her get her work turned in on time.

Thinking about buying a new set of earbuds but don't want to break the bank? Are Apple’s AirPods Max headphones really worth $549? Never say never
Apple AirPods Max

Apple's long-awaited over-ear noise-canceling headphones, the AirPods Max, are now a real product you can buy. And if you act quickly, you might even get them before December 25. But that assumes you're willing to pay Apple's heart-stopping price of $549. That's not just a lot of money; it's more than $150 over and above what Bose charges for its Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 -- a flagship set of active noise canceling (ANC) headphones with a very similar set of features.

Has Apple priced itself out of the market? When you compare the AirPods Max to current competitors, you could be forgiven for saying so. But we've been here before. It's still remarkable to me that folks are willing to spend up to $200 for the second-gen AirPods, when the market is saturated with true wireless earbuds that do more, sound better, and cost way less.
