The Animal Crossing: New Horizons Edition of the Nintendo Switch is one of the most popular versions of the console, and it’s easy to see why. The cute characters on the dock and the calming shades of the Joy-Cons are a major shift from its usual colors, and if you’re a hardcore fan of the Animal Crossing series, it’s a must-own device. The Nintendo Switch Animal Crossing: New Horizons Edition is almost always sold out in retailers, but the console is currently available on Amazon for $299, where it’s in stock and available for delivery as soon as next week.

The most striking characteristic of the Nintendo Switch Animal Crossing: New Horizons Edition is its white dock, featuring series mainstay Tom Nook on an island with Timmy and Tommy. Some special editions of the console also have characters or logos on the dock, such as the fighters on the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Edition, but this is the first time that the dock moves away from its traditional black color.

The Animal Crossing: New Horizons Edition also comes with a pair of Joy-Cons in seafoam green and sky blue, with matching straps and white sliders. The back of the console, meanwhile, is designed with characters and objects that complete its adorable aesthetics.

The purchase, however, doesn’t come with Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The game lets you explore and customize your own island, which you can then show off to your friends as you visit theirs. It should obviously be paired with this special edition of the console, but if you’re looking for something else, the growing library of Nintendo Switch games has something to offer to everyone.

There is high demand for the Nintendo Switch Animal Crossing: New Horizons Edition, and it is rare to see it available on any retailer. Amazon is currently offering it for $299, and while deliveries will not start until next week, this is your chance to secure the coveted console, whether for yourself or as a gift for the upcoming holiday season if it’s part of your child’s wishlist. You should not have second thoughts on taking advantage of the deal, as there is no telling how fast stocks will run out again. However, if you miss this chance, with Black Friday Nintendo Switch deals on the horizon you will still have plenty of time to get your holiday shopping in.

Which Nintendo Switch should you buy this Black Friday?
How to Preorder the Nintendo Switch OLED.

Believe it or not, the Nintendo Switch is almost seven years old already. While a brand new Nintendo console may be right around the corner, Nintendo isn't pulling support on its system in 2024. We already know we're getting games like Princess Peach: Showtime! and Mario vs. Donkey Kong alongside HD re-releases of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon. So if you don't own a Switch already, it's still a good time to jump in.

Of course, Black Friday is the perfect moment to buy a new console. This year's sales event brings some brand new deals on Nintendo's hybrid system thanks to some strong bundles. There are several options to choose from over three different Switch models. So, which of the Nintendo Switch Black Friday deals should you buy?
Original, OLED, or Lite?
The Nintendo Switch breaks down into three models. There's the standard Switch that usually retails for $300, an OLED model that comes with a significantly improved screen for $50 more, and a Lite model that's only $200 but can't be hooked up to a TV. Nintendo hasn't cut the prices on any of those, but it has dropped some of them into bundles that will potentially save you some money in the long run.

One of the best sci-fi games ever made is coming to Nintendo Switch next month
Scene in Outer Wilds where they sit around campfire

During the November 2023 Indie World Showcase, it was revealed that many intriguing indie titles are coming to the Nintendo Switch over the next year. One of the show's biggest announcements was that Outer Wilds -- a critically acclaimed sci-fi game about exploring a solar system throughout repeating time loops -- is finally coming to the Nintendo Switch next month.

A Nintendo Switch port for Outer Wilds was first teased in 2021 and intended to be released during the summer of that year, but it did not make that release window. We did not hear much else about the port until now outside of a mention during one of publisher Annapurna Interactive's own showcases. An Indie World Showcase segment dedicated to the game showed some of its physics-based spacefaring gameplay in action on the Switch, and it seemed to look nice and run at a solid frame rate. Called Outer Wilds: Archaeologist Edition, this version of the game comes with the Echoes of the Eye DLC and will launch digitally on December 7. It will get a physical Switch release sometime next year.
