Devil’s Third, a hack-and-slash action game from Valhalla Game Studios, is the latest project from Tomonobu Itagaki, who previously directed multiple games in Tecmo’s Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive franchises. Available exclusively for the Wii U, Devil’s Third promises “an east-meets-west blend of ninja-style melee combat and modern gunplay oozing with savage action.”
While the single-player campaign in Devil’s Third can only be seen on Wii U consoles, an online multiplayer edition for PCs is currently in beta testing. Developed in a partnership with Korean MMO publisher Nexon, Devil’s Third Online will launch as a free-to-play title in 2016.
Also on the Wii U eShop this week is FAST Racing NEO, an antigravity racing game from Nanostray and Nano Assault series creator Shin’en. FAST Racing NEO includes 16 tracks, and features a selection of multiplayer modes that support up to eight players simultaneously.
Other digital titles premiering for the Wii U this week include the dinosaur-themed quiz game Dinox, offbeat side-scrolling platformer Jones on Fire, competitive party game Sketch Wars, and Game Boy Advance Virtual Console ports of Medabots: Metabee and Medabots: Rokusho.
On the Nintendo 3DS, developer Image & Form launches its SteamWorld Dig follow-up SteamWorld Heist today. Billing itself as “a space adventure with turn-based tactical shootouts,” SteamWorld Heist features unique bullet ricochet mechanics that allow players to pull off trick shots in order to take out faraway enemies.
The Nintendo 3DS also hosts a port of 505 Games’ and Re-Logic’s Minecraft-like sandbox building sim Terraria this week, along with other new releases like Petit Novel Series – Harvest December, Radiohammer, and Rytmik Ultimate.
