You can get a free PC Game Pass subscription via Twitch subscriptions

Microsoft and Twitch are teaming up to give out free PC Game Pass subscriptions for every Twitch subscription purchase or gift for a limited time. According to a blog post from Twitch, the promotion will last from 10 a.m. PT on November 3 until 3 p.m. PT on November 11.

The promotion works like this: If you buy two of any Twitch subs or gifts, you will get three months of PC Game Pass free of charge. Once you’ve made your purchase, a code will be sent to your Twitch notifications inbox for you to redeem on the Xbox site. However, you already need to be newly subscribed to PC Game Pass in order to be eligible to receive the code.

Three months of PC Game Pass will give you access to a wide variety of games available on the service, including Microsoft Flight Simulator, Halo Infinite, Death Stranding, Sea of Thieves, Forza Horizon 5, Grounded, and Persona 5 Royal. When those three months of free access are up, if you want to continue using PC Game Pass, you’ll have to pay $10 a month.

Twitch’s PC Game Pass promotion comes as Microsoft has seen the subscriptions for the service grow 159% year-over-year and more than 20 million people have signed up for Xbox Cloud Gaming. According to The Verge, Xbox CEO Phil Spencer said that the growth of console sales has slowed down in part because of the service’s popularity and profitability.

“We’re seeing growth on PC,” he said. “On console, I’ve seen growth slow down, mainly because at some point you’ve reached everybody on console that wants to subscribe.”

3 new Xbox Game Pass games to play this weekend (February 21-23)
Kai fights a Xaurip in Avowed.

Xbox made it clear that there are a ton of upcoming Xbox Series X games in 2025 that Game Pass subscribers will be itching to play. That lineup starts in earnest right now in February but will continue on with great games like South of Midnight and Doom: The Dark Ages in the coming months. If that wasn't enough, the third-party games hitting Game Pass are excellent games in their own right. If you need something new to play this weekend, these are the obvious choices on Game Pass.
Avowed
Avowed - Official Launch Trailer

Those who paid a bit extra have already been enjoying Avowed as we did, but now all Game Pass subscribers at the Ultimate or PC tier can get in on the action. Set in the same universe as the Pillars of Eternity series, Avowed is a deep RPG that blows all of Obsidian's past efforts out of the water. The game is full of dynamic choices, flexible combat, and compelling quests and characters. Rather than attempting to be as wide as something like Skyrim, Avowed keeps its scope more focused but gives much more depth to everything. This is one of the first must-play games of the year, no doubt.

Microsoft trained an AI to play (and maybe develop) games
A screen of gameplay from the game Bleeding Edge

Today, Microsoft announced its first World and Human Action Model, or WHAM, a generative AI capable of generating game visuals and controller actions. Nicknamed "Muse," this AI was built in collaboration with Microsoft Research Game Intelligence and Teachable AI Experiences alongside the game studio Ninja Theory.

Muse is designed "to effectively support human creatives," according to Microsoft. The AI was trained on Bleeding Edge, a multiplayer arena battler, but the intended applications go far beyond just creating an AI-controlled character (although that is one possible outcome.)

Overcooked! 2
Overcooked 2: Announcement Trailer

You don't need to be in any kind of relationship to enjoy Overcooked! 2, but it is a game you will want to play in co-op. Technically it is a game you could play on your own, but that removes the chaotic energy of trying to coordinate and synergize with your partners in situations designed to be as inefficient as possible. Because the game uses such simple controls and a concept that most people will be able to grasp quickly, this is a fantastic game to introduce new gamers to as well. There are a ton of levels, and going for the high scores on each one is a real test of teamwork, but even just jumping in for a fun party night with Overcooked! 2 is satisfying.
