HBO Go coming to PS3 and PS4

The HBO Go app is coming to PlayStation 3 soon, with the PlayStation 4 app to follow, according to Sony. As with other HBO Go apps, you will still need an HBO cable TV subscription.

The app grants you much of HBO’s content on demand, including its original series including the recently debuted True Detective, older series’ like Deadwood, and current hits like Game of Thrones. The service also includes sports, documentaries, movies, and more. HBO Go is currently available on several platforms, including the Xbox 360 and soon the Xbox One.

An exact date wasn’t given for when the app will appear on the Sony devices, but it will come to the PS3 first, with the PS4 debut to follow. HBO is also planning a standalone HBO Go app that won’t require a cable TV HBO subscription, but instead a subscription directly through HBO. There is no timeframe yet for this app, and cable TV providers have proven resistant to the idea.

Sony is extending its reach into the PC gaming world with the introduction of its new PlayStation Accessories app. The new application allows players to fully customize the DualSense Edge controller directly from their Windows PCs.

Offering a suite of customization options that were previously only available on the PlayStation 5, PC gamers can adjust stick sensitivity, button mapping, and trigger dead zones, among other settings. This level of customization brings the PS5’s premium controller experience to a broader audience, making it a compelling choice for PC gamers looking for a high-quality controller with a wealth of options.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor finally coming to PS4 and Xbox One in September

EA and Respawn Entertainment have revealed that PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will come out on September 17. That means players who only own last-gen consoles will be able to try out this excellent action-adventure game that was previously exclusive to PC and current-gen consoles.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a sequel to 2019's Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and continues the story of Cal Kestis, who stumbles upon a new threat connected to the universe's High Republic era. I gave the game a four-star review when it launched in April 2023, writing that "Star Wars Jedi: Survivor still tells a thematically rich, character-driven Jedi tale in one of the most densely packed 3D Metroidvania games I’ve ever played. It’s now the definitive single-player Star Wars experience."

The PlayStation 3 had a rough start. The price was high, and there weren't all that many great games compared to the best Xbox 360 games. However, Sony stuck with it and eventually managed to turn things around, leading to one of the most important generations in terms of new IP.
