Hitman 3 gets haptic feedback and confusing PSVR support on PlayStation 5

Developer IO Interactive shared new details on Hitman 3, outlining some of the game’s unique features on PlayStation 5. The stealth game will have haptic feedback through the DualSense controller and PSVR support on the new console, though it’ll require players to jump through a few hoops.

Each gun in the game will use the DualSense’s adaptive triggers to simulate weapon-specific sensations. A similar effect is used in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War to give each gun a different feel. Haptic feedback will be implemented based on each gun’s sound profile.

The developer gave a concrete example of how the DualSense will work when it comes to the game’s focus effect.

“When you gently squeeze the R2 button, your finger will reach a tension point that will resist your pressure,” a blog post explains. “And you’ll need to hold your finger against that tension point to activate the focus. When you’re ready to fire, push past that tension point and you’ll feel the “click” of the trigger as you fire the weapon.”

IO shared more details on how PSVR support will work on PlayStation 5 and it’s a little complicated. PSVR support will only work on the PS4 version via backward compatibility, so the PS5 version of the game doesn’t actually support PSVR. To alleviate that confusion, all digital and physical PlayStation 5 copies of the game will come with the PlayStation 4 version for free.

The PlayStation 5 version will support 4K visuals and run at 60 frames per second. Anyone who buys the PlayStation 4 version will get a free upgrade to the next-generation version, which means that players will now get both versions of the game either way.

The next game from developer Don't Nod, the original creators of Life is Strange, is taking us back to the '90s. Split into two parts (the second scheduled to release on April 15), Lost Records: Bloom and Rage is another adventure game focused on a group of four girls split between the summer of 1995 and 27 years later after the friends had a falling out. Whatever secret caused them to break apart has brought them back together. Anyone with nostalgia for the '90s and a love for teen drama and mystery has nothing to lose giving this first chapter a shot. Thankfully the story is only split into two this time so you won't have to wait multiple months between parts to finish the story.

3 PlayStation Plus games to play this weekend (February 14-16)

PlayStation surprised us earlier this week and a new State of Play showcase that highlighted a ton of upcoming PS5 games to look forward to, such as Metal Gear Solid: Delta and Onimusha: Way of the Sword. The Outer Worlds
The Outer Worlds - Come to Halcyon Trailer | PS4

There's a good chance that Avowed will eventually make its way to PS5, but right now, there's no official word on that. What has been on PlayStation Plus for a while is the last major RPG from Obsidian, The Outer Worlds. Often compared to a Fallout in space, this is a more contained RPG experience where you explore several hub locations rather than a single open world. The entire game is a parody on corporations, capitalism, and class that hits way more than it misses. You are given a ton of different build options, and the companions are some of the best we've had the pleasure to meet. This isn't a huge game, but we do need to give you fair warning that it is leaving the service this month so you will need to commit to it if you want to finish it all. Even if you don't, it is worth a purchase to be ready for The Outer Worlds 2.

Killing Floor 3 affirmed for me that there's something inherently fun about fighting off hordes of zombies with your friends.

Working together to fight grotesque creatures of all shapes and sizes, scavenging for resources, and slowly feeling the challenge ramp up round after round is a strong core gameplay loop that many gaming classics have. Of course, Call of Duty dominates this space with its Zombies modes, with Black Ops 6 being particularly entertaining. Left 4 Dead 2 and Back 4 Blood are personal favorites of mine, but I've only occasionally dabbled in Killing Floor, a series of round-based zombie (or Zed) shooters by Maneater's Tripwire Interactive.
