How to transfer your Marvel’s Spider-Man save from PS4 to PS5

Though it wasn’t the original plan, Insomniac Games has implemented a way to transfer your Marvel’s Spider-Man save from the PlayStation 4 to the Remastered PS5 version. The update has recently gone live, and while the transfer process works well, there are a few steps you need to take to get it to work.

In this guide, we’ll show you exactly how to transfer your PS4 save to Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered on PS5, step by step.

Before you attempt anything, you’ll need to have both versions of the game: Marvel’s Spider-Man on PS4 and Remastered on PS5. You can use the digital or physical edition of the PS4 game — but keep in mind that Remastered is only available on PS5 digitally. Both need to be updated to their latest versions, and you must use the same PSN account across both.

To start, load up your copy of Marvel’s Spider-Man for PS4. This can be done via a PS4 or through the PS5 using backward compatibility. If you have the disc, simply insert it into the PS5 system. If you have a digital copy, you’ll need to specifically download the PS4 game onto your system. Make sure it’s the PS4 version and not the Remastered edition on PS5. To download it, head to your Game Library on PS5, and you’ll be able to categorize your list by platform. Filter it by PS4 games, and you’ll see your PS4 copy of Marvel’s Spider-Man here. Download it, and you’ll be ready to go.

Once you’ve booted up the PS4 version, press R1 from the game’s main menu to upload the save of your choice. You’ll get a notice that says “Upload Save?” Press X to continue, and assuming you’re connected to the internet and are using the game’s latest update, it’ll tell you it’s successful.

Overnight we released an update for Marvel’s Spider-Man on PS4 bringing those suits, and the ability to export your save to Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered.

We also updated Remastered to allow import of those exported saves and with many additional fixes (incl. rest mode crash) https://t.co/LVnYVykc0Q

Download save on PS5

The next step is to boot up your copy of Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered on PS5. After you’ve loaded into the main menu, press R1 to download the PS4 console save. A text box will then appear that reads “Download PS4 Console Save?” Press X to confirm, and it’ll tell you it’s successful. Now, you’ll be able to pick up right where you left off on PS4.

The best part is that every trophy you unlocked on the PS4 version will automatically unlock for PS5, meaning if you got the platinum the first time around, you’ll get it again with almost zero effort. Since there are two trophy lists, you’re basically double dipping, which is a neat feature for trophy hunters.

The PlayStation 5 has had a bit of a tumultuous journey, especially when it was first released, and there were quite a few stock issues. It also didn't have access to any compatible SSDs to expand internal storage, so you couldn't really expand the internal game storage; you just moved games across here and there. Thankfully, things have gone a long way since then, and if you're thinking of picking up the new PS5 Slim, now is a good time. While there aren't a lot of great deals on the consoles themselves, there are some good deals on games, including some of the best games on PS5 and PS5 games with the best graphics. We've also collected some of the best PS5 game deals, as well as some great accessories, including some great gaming headset deals.

The PlayStation 5 has recently seen a great revision with it now slightly slimmer than before and also offering more storage space with 1TB of internal space resulting in 842GB of it being usable. You still get the impressive DualSense controller along with all the benefits that the PS5 offers. With the arrival of the new revision, there are some great bundles around, including a free digital copy of Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

A 2TB WD Black

At a little under a terabyte of space, the PlayStation 5 has quite a bit of storage, although a small chunk of that is used for the operating system. Combine that with modern games often being between 50-100GB, and the reality is that you're going to quickly run into the limit of what it can store. That's where expanding the internal storage with an SSD makes sense, and even if you aren't that tech-savvy, it's not too difficult. The only thing that's important to know is that you need to have SSDs with the latest PCIe Gen 4x4 tech since that is what the PS5 uses to work games at the speeds it can. Luckily, we've done a lot of the footwork and collected some of our favorite deals for you below, including some of the best SSDs for the PS5.

That said, if you haven't picked up a PS5 yet, be sure to check out these excellent PS5 deals, and if you already own one, maybe check out these PS5 game deals to expand your library.
