Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer and Entertainment & Digital Media division president Nancy Tellem met with TV studio executives from CBS, Sony and WME (William Morris Endeavor, a media agency) last week in an attempt to nail down exclusive television content for the Xbox One console, according to Deadline. CBS president and CEO Les Moonves, Sony Pictures Television president Steve Mosko, and WME co-CEOs Ari Emanuel and Patrick Whitesell were all reportedly present at the meeting.

The group discussed the Xbox One and its TV-driven focus, a point that Microsoft stressed heavily in its console announcement. The focus of the meeting was apparently on bringing established studios in to deliver dedicated apps for the new platform. Something capable of delivering established content that could complement Microsoft’s growing focus on exclusive programming, such as Steven Spielberg’s planned live-action Halo show.

Ballmer also wanted to show off the new hardware and convince the Hollywood execs that Microsoft’s commitment to entertainment services is for real. Microsoft previously asserted that the Xbox One will come with more entertainment options than any other game console before it, including the aforementioned Halo show and an exclusive partnership with the NFL. Though Microsoft’s E3 press conference will focus on the games, meetings such as this one suggest that there’s more to come from the non-interactive entertainment space as well.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 won’t be as taxing on your PC
A rainbow colored hot air balloon in the sky.

One of the biggest obstacles to playing Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 is how taxing it is to run on your platform of choice, both in terms of performance and storage. For the next game in the series, Xbox and developer Asobo Studio are making it just a little easier to run.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will be around 30GB smaller at installation than its predecessor: 127GB versus 157GB. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 was one of the largest games around, and even prompted some people to purchase more powerful hardware for their PCs. And that installation number doesn't even include all the extra content you could buy. While 2024 will still be quite big, trimming it down will make it easier to install on your drive, which probably wasn't that big to start with if you have an original Xbox Series X/S.

Unknown 9: Awakening is already a thrilling superhero spectacle
The hero of Unknown 9 Awakening: floats through a street.

Unknown 9: Awakening feels like something out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A hero with a dead mentor figure? Check. Superpowers? Check. Mysterious organizations that want to use those powers for nefarious purposes? I don't even need to say it, do I.

Haroona, a woman who can channel psychic powers from a parallel dimension called the Fold, leads the story with her strong sense of justice and arsenal of abilities. Clichés aside, what impressed me most about Unknown 9 during a 60-minute hands-on demo at PAX West was its worldbuilding and how it encouraged me to experiment with Haroona's powers. I'll admit, I was confused about how to juggle them within the first few minutes of the preview. But once I adapted, I was swapping between the buttons without an issue, even if I accidentally missed a hit or two.
