Psychonauts 2 is 66% off on Steam right now alongside other Double Fine discounts

Double Fine Productions is having a massive online sale right now and it’s the perfect time to snag all of the Psychonauts titles on PC at a deep discount. Psychonauts 2 is the crown jewel of the sale, as it’s currently 66% off.

Psychonauts 2 is an inventive platformer that deftly comments on mental health topics through the journey of Raz, a 10-year-old circus performer-turned-psychic who can jump into anyone’s mind. Every enemy in the game is some manifestation of a mental ailment — you get to fight off physical manifestations of issues folks struggle with every day.

The title is only $20.39 on Steam right now, which is 66% off its normal price of $60. You won’t be completely lost if you don’t play the previous games in the series first, but we recommend it. Luckily, the first entry is on sale as well — Psychonauts is only $3 (80% off). Psychonauts In The Rhombus Of Ruin, a virtual reality game, is also on sale but only through the PlayStation Store.

On top of the company’s flagship game being deeply discounted, there are also sales on some of its lesser-known titles like Broken Age, which is hand-animated and features celebrity voice actors Elijah Wood and Jack Black, and Brütal Legend, an action-adventure game that is “set in a universe somewhere between Lord of the Rings and Spinal Tap.”

Psychonauts 2: Scavenger hunt side-quest guide

Raz is back in action for Psychonauts 2, and this sequel is just as full of creative and intriguing characters, locations, and activities as the first game. While the main story will focus on entering different characters' minds, there is also a brand-new overworld to explore. This hub is packed with just as much side content as it is creativity, which is to say a lot. You're by no means required to deviate from the main path, but you'll miss out out on some great extras and unlockables if you don't.

The scavenger hunt is one side quest that makes a return from the original. In Psychonauts 2, this quest can be picked up by speaking to Norma as soon as you've been outfitted with your new clothes from Sasha. There are 16 items deemed Mission Critical Psychonauts Assets that you're going to need to find throughout the massive hub, but not all will be accessible until you've unlocked specific abilities. In fact, this quest isn't even fully completable until you've beaten the game. Raz has a much darker -- and more dangerous -- quest ahead of him in Psychonauts 2 that will push his physical and mental abilities to the limit. You'll get plenty of new gadgets and psychic powers to help you explore, platform, and fight your way through multiple character's brains, but no matter how skilled at combat and traversal you are, Raz is bound to take some damage. Whether it be an enemy hitting you, or a misplaced jump, Raz's health bar is finite, but can be upgraded to give you more chances. The only way to do so is by collecting the rare Half-A-Minds.

Half-A-Minds are your heart piece equivalent in Psychonauts 2, only instead of needing to collect 4 to upgrade your health, you only need 2. Because of how strong they are, there are precious few to be found in the game. Most will be tucked away or gated off in areas where you need specific abilities or upgrades to reach.
