Ubisoft, the developer and publisher behind the Tom Clancy franchise of games, has quietly announced the release date of the series’ upcoming title, Rainbow Six Extraction, it seems. The game’s release date was announced through what seems to be an update to its E3 announcement post on Ubisoft’s website. The post, which was originally put up this past June, was updated somewhat recently to include the game’s new release date. Ubisoft has not made a formal announcement just yet, but we have reached out to the company for comment and will update this article when we receive a response.

Rainbow Six Extraction is a PvE tactical shooter that borrows a good number of mechanics from the franchise’s wildly popular competitive title, Rainbow Six Siege. Players can fill the shoes of different operators, each of whom has their own special abilities and gear. However, instead of fighting another team of operators, players are squared off against a strange alien threat that is slowly taking over chunks of land.

The game’s release date lands it square in the middle of what will be an extremely busy start for 2022 in the world of games. That same month will also see the launches of Monster Hunter RiseElden Ring (on January 21), and Pokemon Legends Arceus. The pace of games doesn’t slow until March, with February packed with releases including SifuDying Light 2, and Horizon Forbidden West.

Is Rainbow Six Siege cross-platform?
The operators from Rainbow Six Siege attacking.

Despite coming out in 2015, Rainbow Six Siege has somehow only gotten better and more popular with age. It takes the best elements from a tactical shooter like Counter-Strike 2 and specialized characters team compositions from hero shooters, but sets them in a destructive environment to make each round tactically unique. It is a hardcore game, but even more casual players can have a ton of fun breaching walls and peeking through a hole in the wall to land a headshot.

Aside from the new maps, modes, and characters added, Rainbow Six Siege has also moved from last-generation consoles to current ones. It has also remained popular on PC. Do all these platforms play nice together in this old game, or does Rainbow Six Siege have cross-platform support?
Is Rainbow Six Siege cross-platform?
Rainbow Six Siege is only partially cross-platform. Console players on either PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, or Xbox Series X/S can all play in matches together, but not with the PC crowd. PC players can only play against other PC players, or those playing via Amazon Luna. This is partially to keep matches fair since keyboard and mouse players would have a large advantage over console players who are only able to use controllers.

Ubisoft Japan accidentally beat its global counterparts to the release date announcement punch, leaking the fact that Star Wars Outlaws will launch on August 30.

Ubisoft planned to release a new story trailer for Star Wars Outlaws, its open-world shooter about a smuggler fighting to stay afloat in the galaxy between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, on Tuesday morning. It set premieres across all its international YouTube channels for this trailer, and while the description for most of them had a message along the lines of "Stay tuned for the World Premiere of the Star Wars Outlaws Story Trailer," Ubisoft Japan slipped up. As spotted by Gematsu, the description of a since-delisted premiere for the trailer on Ubisoft Japan's channel revealed an August 30 release date.
