The Rockstar Editor is coming to Grand Theft Auto V on PlayStation 4, Xbox One

It was revealed yesterday that Rockstar Games has no plans to bring additional heists to any version of Grand Theft Auto V, but luckily some good news for fans of the series has come to light as well.

While Rockstar has previously said that the Rockstar Editor would be exclusive to PC gamers, it seems that this exclusivity was only for a month or two. In the Asked & Answered Q & A on its website yesterday, Rockstar revealed that the editor would indeed be coming to Grand Theft Auto V on consoles as well.

While this brings the tool to more fans of the game, there will still be some gamers left in the cold. “The Rockstar Editor is an advanced tool requiring additional processing power so it would not be compatible with GTAV on the older systems,” Rockstar wrote, “ but we are currently working on a version tailored for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles — and we hope to release that sometime this summer, or as soon as it is ready.”

Another currently PC-only feature is coming to consoles as well. The Lab radio station, curated by DJs The Alchemist and Oh No, will be coming to all four consoles, so at least those playing on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 will get some sort of consolation prize. The radio station is said to be coming in “a forthcoming title update,” but no other information was given.

For those hoping that The Lab’s arrival on consoles means that Self Radio, which allows gamers to play their own music inside the game, will be coming to consoles as well, alas the answer is no. Rockstar says that “a fully featured and properly integrated radio station just wouldn’t technically be possible on the consoles as it requires more than the consoles allow at this time.”

One of the most popular games on Steam has hit a snag for Steam Deck players. Grand Theft Auto 5 and Grand Theft Auto Online are no longer supported for Valve's PC handheld.

Rockstar Games explains in a post for Update 1.69 (and spotted by The Verge), that its game won't be supported by Steam Deck due to the integration of BattlEye Anti-Cheat for Grand Theft Auto Online. The goal was to put a limit on cheating in its open-world MMO, but that came at the cost of Steam Deck support.

If you were hoping Grand Theft Auto 6 would launch day one on Xbox Game Pass, you're out of luck. Take-Two Interactive execs have been hesitant to launch the company's games on subscription services on Xbox Game Pass, and that will continue to be the case, according to the CEO's recent comments.

In an interview with Gamesindustry.biz ahead of the company's latest financial report, CEO Strauss Zelnick candidly said that while he believes the addition of the Call of Duty franchise will push players to the service for a bit, it won't affect Take-Two's release strategy.
