Marvel’s Avengers finally adds Spider-Man this month

After over a year from being initially announced, Spider-Man will be available as a playable character for PlayStation players in Marvel’s Avengers on November 30. There will also be a new event available for players as well as the game’s first raid: The Discordant Sound.

Spider-Man was first announced for Marvel’s Avengers back in August 2020. After that announcement, we got very little information about the wallcrawler. Crystal Dynamics’ road map for Marvel’s Avengers earlier this year was the only other time players were officially told that Spider-Man was still on his way to the game. Alongside the new hero, players also have a new event that they can play. The With Great Power Hero Event will act as a story campaign for Spider-Man and can be used as an introduction to the hero’s unique playstyle.

Besides Spider-Man, Marvel’s Avengers players will finally get their hands on the game’s first raid, the Discordant Sound. Raids are known to be more difficult than the usual content and require more coordination and players in order to accomplish. Marvel’s Avengers will have players face off against Klaw and conclude his story from the War for Wakanda expansion. Crystal Dynamics promises that the raid will challenge players with combat and puzzles. Included in this new update will be more cosmetic options for players as well as a new enemy type known as echoes.

PlayStation 6 predictions: games we expect to see on PS6
A screenshot from The Story So Far in Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

We're four years into the PlayStation 5's lifecycle, which means that we've likely hit the halfway point. Console generations tend to last around eight years these days, so it's not impossible that we'll get a PlayStation 6 by 2028. While it might seem way too early to start anticipating a far off console (and it is), the reality is that the groundwork for it is likely being laid as we speak. Large scale exclusives can take well over four years to produce, which means that some PS6 games could be in the works right this second.

Some of those games seem like foregone conclusions. We'll likely see new games in the God of War and Horizon series, as well as new IP from studios like Housemarque. As for the rest? We already have some firm ideas about what games will land on Sony's next console. That's partially thanks to studio confirmation, leaks, and some good old fashioned common sense. Here our best guesses as to what we might be playing on a shiny new PlayStation by 2030.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is getting even more suits, including some designer outfits for both Peter Parker and Miles Morales that will hit the game for free on June 18.

In a PlayStation blog, developer Insomniac Games detailed the eight new suits, four of which were made in partnership with fashion mogul and designer Colm "KidSuper" Dillane and other celebrities. One Miles suit, called the "Metro Suit," is a solo KidSuper effort that also comes with three additional variant colors and a top reminiscent of a puffer jacket.
