Stocking stuffer idea: Get a Tamagotchi for only $20

The Original Tamagotchi digital pet on a chain.
Tamagotchi

Here’s a worthy addition to our roundup of Cyber Week stocking stuffers: the Original Tamagotchi, a digital pet that’s making a comeback after reaching peak popularity in the late 1990s, is on sale from Walmart for less than half-price. From $42, it’s currently available for only $20, for savings of $22. We’re not sure how much time is remaining before stocks sell out or until its price returns to normal, so if you think this is the perfect gift for somebody, or perhaps even for yourself, take advantage of the offer immediately while it’s still available.

Why you should buy the Original Tamagotchi

The Tamagotchi shaped the tech habits of a generation when it was released in the late 1990s, and it’s back as a retro device that’s targeting kids and adults alike. If you’ve raised Pokémon in any of the Pokémon games or built an island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the Tamagotchi is an extremely simple version. As a digital pet, you’ll have to feed it when it’s hungry, play with it when it’s bored, give it medicine when it’s sick, discipline it when it bothers you, and clean up after it when it leaves a mess. You’ll raise your Tamagotchi from an egg into a child, and depending on how you raise it, it will grow into one of the seven types of adults.

Giving the Tamagotchi as a gift for the holidays will bring back memories if you give it to someone who was already around when it first arrived on the scene. Giving it to children, meanwhile, could teach them the idea of responsibility, especially if they’re preparing to take care of an actual pet. Either way, the Tamagotchi will surely be a hit as an inexpensive stocking stuffer.

It’s a good idea to shop for stocking stuffers now while the shipping channels aren’t too congested yet because of the holiday rush. Here’s a much less expensive and smaller alternative to gaming console deals: the Original Tamagotchi, which is available from Walmart with a $22 discount that more than halves its price from $42 to only $20. The digital pet’s popularity is on the rise again, so there’s a chance that stocks are already running low. If you don’t want to miss out on this offer, you’re going to have to complete your purchase for the Original Tamagotchi as soon as possible.

Here’s what it has to offer.

Why you should buy the Lenovo Legion Go
In our Lenovo Legion Go review, we described it as a “creative portable PC that delivers innovative features.” It has a strong build quality along with a top-of-the-line display. Its button placement could be a little better, but otherwise it has a great design. It has a 8.8-inch WQXGA screen with 2560 x 1600 resolution and 16:10 aspect ratio. Its 144Hz refresh rate means it can cope with fast-moving action no matter what game you’re playing, but it can also be scaled down to 800p and 60Hz for conserving battery life.
