The first episode of The Walking Dead: Michonne will premiere on February 23rd for the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PS3, and PC and Mac platforms via Steam. Releases for iOS and Android devices will follow on February 25th.
The Walking Dead: Michonne chronicles the adventures of a blade-wielding character featured throughout Kirkman’s cross-media franchise. Telltale aims to bridge the storyline gap between issues #126 and #139 of The Walking Dead comic book series, which saw Michonne’s previously unexplained departure.
“In [the] premiere episode, ‘In Too Deep,’ Michonne joins Pete and his crew on the sailing ship The Companion as they cruise the coast for survivors and supplies,” Telltale explains. “When a desperate signal for help draws them to a scene of horrific massacre, Michonne and the crew are lead further to the floating survivors’ colony of Monroe, which may just be harboring the person responsible for the carnage.”
Michonne is voiced by Orange Is the New Black star Samira Wiley (Poussey) throughout Telltale’s miniseries.
The Walking Dead: Michonne marks the third time that Telltale Games has adapted Robert Kirkman’s work for consoles and digital platforms. The developer won critical acclaim with its episodic 2012 series The Walking Dead: The Game, and five additional episodes debuted in 2013 as part of The Walking Dead: Season Two.
Like its Telltale-produced predecessors, The Walking Dead: Michonne is a narrative-driven adventure game in which player decisions and dialog choices have a major impact on later episodes in the series.
Players can pick up the full miniseries later this month for $15. Episode 2 of The Walking Dead: Michonne is currently set to premiere in March, while Episode 3 is due for release in April.
