This story is part of Tech for Change: an ongoing series in which we shine a spotlight on positive uses of technology, and showcase how they're helping to make the world a better place.

Apple today announced a new walking exercise series to its Fitness+ workout service. The new Time to Walk program invites you to walk alongside celebrities and other “influential and interesting people.” As you walk, you can laugh, cry and find entertainment as the miles fly by. It should make for a great companion for those long walks, better than just doing them on your own.

Time to walk invites influencers to share their stories and reflect upon their lives. Each message is meant to inspire listeners and encourage them to walk on a regular basis. The series launches with four episodes featuring country star Dolly Parton, professional NBA basketball player Draymond Green, musician Shawn Mendes, and Emmy Award-winning actress Uzo Aduba.

Time To Walk is available to Fitness+ subscribers, who can find both new and old episodes in the Workout app. Selecting a Time to Walk episode automatically launches a Walk workout activity allowing users to focus on the storyteller and not fret about their fitness. The monologue range from 25 to 40 minutes and users can walk at their own pace for the duration of the talk. For those in a wheelchair, Time to Walk is branded as Time to Push and starts a new Outdoor Wheelchair Walk Pace workout.

New episodes will be added weekly and will appear automatically in the Workout app on the Apple Watch. Users can listen to new episodes as they are released or browse through the back catalog. Each episode is treated to the user via connected AirPods or similar Bluetooth headphones.

Time to Walk is available now for all Apple Fitness+ subscribers in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the U.K., and the U.S. Fitness+ costs $10 per year or $80 yearly. It also is bundled in the Apple One Premier plan ($30 monthly) which includes 2TB of iCloud storage, Apple Arcade, Apple Music, and more. New Apple Watch owners who purchased an Apple Watch Serie 3 or newer automatically receive three free months of Apple Fitness+.
