To turn a chore into a treat, turn it into a game. That’s precisely what Fitbit and Xbox are doing for exercise, hoping to motivate more folks to get in shape by making workouts fun. After all, if the same device you use to play video games can also help to improve your health, you’re likely to spend more (productive) time in front of the big screen.

This week, Fitbit Coach became available in the Microsoft Store, and users can download the app for Windows 10 and Xbox. Once you have the Fitbit Coach app for Xbox, you’ll have access to one personalized program and a selection of audio and video workouts. If you’re interested in paying more for your fitness, the Fitbit Coach Premium subscription will set you back $40 a year, and features more programs, unlimited workouts, and more.

In order to actually make use of Fitbit Coach on your console or computer, you’ll need to have a Microsoft Xbox One (One, One S, One X) or a Windows 10 PC, such as a Surface Laptop or Surface Pro. To improve the experience, Fitbit recommends also donning a smartwatch of some sort. And if it’s a Fitbit device, you’ll be able to see your heart rate in real time on your television screen. “Knowing your heart rate and which heart rate zone you’re in will help you optimize your intensity and help Fitbit better measure your calorie burn,” Fitbit noted on its blog.

With the Fitbit Coach, your personal trainer will live in your television. The app’s video workouts show exercises alongside step-by-step instructions, motivation, and tips. The music that goes along with your workout is customizable and is powered by Feed.fm, which promises a wide range of stations. If you’re a Fitbit wearer, the Coach will recommend workouts based on your daily activity for even further personalization, but even if you’re not wearing a smartwatch, you can take advantage of Coach’s 50-plus expert-designed running and walking audio workouts.

Fitbit Coach is now available in English, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish for fitness no matter where in the world you may be.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 won’t be as taxing on your PC
A rainbow colored hot air balloon in the sky.

One of the biggest obstacles to playing Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 is how taxing it is to run on your platform of choice, both in terms of performance and storage. For the next game in the series, Xbox and developer Asobo Studio are making it just a little easier to run.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will be around 30GB smaller at installation than its predecessor: 127GB versus 157GB. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 was one of the largest games around, and even prompted some people to purchase more powerful hardware for their PCs. And that installation number doesn't even include all the extra content you could buy. While 2024 will still be quite big, trimming it down will make it easier to install on your drive, which probably wasn't that big to start with if you have an original Xbox Series X/S.

Overwatch 2 is now on Xbox Game Pass, and it comes with perks
Overwatch 2 skins: Cardboard Reinhardt, Turtleship D.Va, Cyberdragon Hanzo, Street Runner Genji, Bee Mercy, and Cleric Lifeweaver

Blizzard Entertainment surprise dropped Overwatch 2 on Xbox Game Pass on Tuesday, despite the game being free to play and already on Xbox.

You might find this to be a strange addition, but as a Blizzard blog post specifies, this is more about encouraging players to link their Battle.net and Xbox accounts. As a reward, players that do so will receive six exclusive skins: Cardboard Reinhardt, Turtleship D.Va, Cyberdragon Hanzo, Street Runner Genji, Bee Mercy, and Cleric Lifeweaver. (The image of a Reinhardt in a cardboard suit is delightful.) Players will also get 30 Mythic Prisms that they can use in the Mythic Shop for other skins.

Astro Bot isn’t on Xbox, but you can play these great platformers on Game Pass
Raz runs on a colorful stage in Psychonauts 2.

Astro Bot is an undeniable win for PlayStation. It's not just a celebration of the brand and many of the franchises that built it into what it is today, but it's also a fantastic 3D platformer that uses the PS5 hardware in creative ways. As a Sony-published game spotlighting the history of the company, it's obviously not on Xbox. In fact, I've seen a lot of people lamenting that Xbox does not have a lot of good platformers in the wake of Astro Bot's well-received launch.

Although it's accurate to say that Xbox doesn't have an exclusive quite like Astro Bot, a few excellent 3D platformers are available on Xbox Game Pass. Many of them are even IP now owned by Microsoft or outright published by Xbox Game Studios. If you have an Xbox console and Game Pass subscription and feel like you're missing out on Astro Bot, consider playing one of these games to make that feeling a little less painful.
