Upload some photos, take a style quiz, and these online interior designers do the rest

A well-decorated space goes a long way. It stimulates creativity, enhances one’s mood, and makes you feel comfortable overall. Though some wish to have their pad appear like a Pinterest replica, the luxury of hiring an interior designer comes at a pretty hefty price. With the interior design industry moving forth with a tech upgrade, several companies are looking to change the way we design.

Founded by designer Leura Fine, Laurel & Wolf is an interior design startup that provides all its services online. Straight from your laptop, desktop computer, or mobile device, you can spruce up your home or office space with the help of certified interior designers. To begin, the site asks for you to take a short style quiz. This gives the designer a better understanding of who you are, what your space is like, and your budget. You’ll also upload a few images and dimensions of your space.

After submitting your information, the platform’s network of interior designers will review your design brief and will follow up with customized “First Look” style boards. Out of these style boards, you can choose which one you like the most and then you’ll be matched with a personal designer. For about 10 days, you get to virtually collaborate with your designer on perfecting your space. Once you’re satisfied with your design, you’ll receive a Final Design Package, which includes a complete shopping list, floor plan, setup instructions, and a personalized style board.

For those who don’t have time to purchase the new furniture and home decor, Laurel & Wolf offers a “Buy For Me” service, where the team does all of the online shopping for you and provides you with tracking information and arrival dates.  “They really managed to digitize a process that’s been stuck offline for years, and all at an affordable price,” said DT writer Lulu Chang, who tried out the service. “I stayed well within my budget and honestly couldn’t be happier with the result.”

Since its 2014 launch, Laurel & Wolf has raised over $25 million in funding, with more than 900 interior designers in the network. The company lets their clients design for a one-time flat rate. For $299 a room, the classic package offers a complete interior design service, while the premium package comes at $499 per room and connects you with the network’s top designers.

Samsung has a new AI cordless vacuum that’s more powerful than Dyson
Samsung Bespoke AI Jet Ultra

Samsung has been busy the last few weeks, announcing a number of additions to its smart home and digital appliances offering – first in refrigeration, then washing and drying, and now in vacuuming. The company hasn't been in the vacuum game as long as the likes of Dyson, but it's just announced what it claims to be "the most powerful cordless stick vacuum cleaner in the world".

The cordless vacuum was revealed at Samsung's Welcome to Bespoke AI global event in Frankfurt, Germany earlier in March, which we were at so we've seen this new delight in the flesh. Building on the Bespoke AI Jet cordless vacuum, the Bespoke AI Jet Ultra features up to 400W of suction power, which is how it has come to claim the world's most powerful. For context, Dyson's Gen5 Detect has 280W of power.
