Lenovo adds to its smart home lineup with the Smart Frame, Smart Tab, and more

Many people look to 2020 as the year to finally jump into the world of smart home technology. After all, there are a lot of benefits to doing so — and Lenovo introduced three smart home-focused products at CES 2020 that offer people even more options.

The first of these products is the Lenovo Smart Frame. It takes intelligent home decor a step beyond using your Echo Show as a way to display family photos. The Lenovo Smart Frame is a 21.5-inch IPS display with anti-glare coating and a color-tone sensor that detects ambient lighting conditions and adjusts the display so that it looks the best it can. The Lenovo Smart Frame connects to your Google Photos account, but you can also choose from an array of preset artwork. Built-in artificial intelligence helps choose the best order to display the shots for maximum impact. The Lenovo Smart Frame will retail for $399 and be available in August.

The second product is a reiteration of last year’s Lenovo Smart Tab. The Lenovo Smart Tab M10 FHD Plus 2nd Gen with Google Assistant combines the functionality of a tablet with Google Assistant. The tablet is designed to be used by multiple users, with facial recognition for each person with access to the tablet. While it has a lot of functionality, the smart home application comes in the built-in Google Assistant and the ways it can be used to control any Google-compatible device within your smart home. Set up the device in your Home app and you can control it from your tablet without the need for an intermediary device.

The final announcement comes in the form of Lenovo Connected Home Security. This tool monitors your home’s network for odd behavior and alerts you if an unknown user accesses your network. It monitors both Lenovo and non-Lenovo devices, as long as they are connected to your network. Lenovo Connected Home Security is free for Lenovo PC users with qualifying devices but will be available to other Lenovo users for a 30-day free trial in January. After the trial expires, the service is $30 per year for a full license.

A child playing with the EBO X.

Every January, CES brings us a laundry list of innovative, intriguing products that’ll probably never see the light of day. Enabot, an under-the-radar robot company, seems to be bucking that trend at CES 2023, with its impressive EBO X smart home robot offering up dozens of futuristic features and a release date planned for the second quarter of this year.

EBO X is an adorable smart home robot that serves multiple purposes in your household. After mapping its surroundings, the self-balancing, two-wheeled companion can follow you around your home, provide two-way communication through its 4K camera, pump out music via its Harman speakers, sync with other Alexa devices, and provide security alerts while you’re away.

Lockly smart lock adds voice controls, fingerprint sensor to existing deadbolts
The Lockly Flex Touch Pro installed on an existing deadbolt.

Lockly seems to have kept renters in mind with its latest product, the Flex Touch Pro. Unlike most traditional smart locks, this one doesn’t require you to install a new deadbolt -- yet still manages to add both voice controls and a fingerprint scanner to your front door.

The Flex Touch Pro was revealed during CES 2023 and is scheduled to be released in the first quarter of 2023 with a price tag of $230. That pricing puts it right in the middle of the smart lock market, although its retrofitting design and impressive biometric features should make it an appealing option for both renters and homeowners. The product comes with three unique frames to offer a nearly universal fit and supports Wi-Fi for remote access, letting you check in on the status of your door regardless of where you are.

A person using the new Bespoke fridge touchscreen.

The first day of CES 2023 is right around the corner, but Samsung isn't waiting to introduce the world to its new lineup of smart home appliances. Specifically, the Bespoke lineup is now on full display, with new smart refrigerators, smart ovens, and smart washers making an appearance.

Samsung’s Bespoke lineup has long been a premium choice for smart home shoppers -- and that trend looks to continue throughout this year. One of the biggest upgrades is for the Bespoke 4-Door Flex Refrigerator with Family Hub+, which now offers a massive 32-inch touchscreen (up from a 21.5-inch display) that’s embedded directly into its glass panel door. The screen will support the new Family Hub software, allowing you to stream your favorite shows, share photos, or check the status of connected devices.
