Apple Sports App adds NASCAR coverage ahead of 2025 season

—As the Daytona 500 approaches this weekend, Apple has added NASCAR coverage to the Apple Sports app that launched last year. Since launching in February 2024, the Apple Sports app has gradually added coverage for various sports leagues. However, it started to gain traction last fall when the college football season began.

This free app allows iPhone users to follow their favorite teams, leagues, and tournaments, providing real-time scores, statistics, schedules, and news. It also features “Live Activities,” enabling users to view live scores and updates directly on their iPhone Lock Screen, Dynamic Island, and Apple Watch.

The Apple Sports app is designed to be fast and user-friendly. Its simple interface makes it easy to find the information you need. Users can customize the app to follow only the teams and leagues that interest them.

The Apple Sports app offers coverage beyond just U.S. sports leagues. It includes a variety of international competitions such as the Bundesliga, Champions League, Conference League, EFL Championship, Europa League, FA Cup, FBS and FCS NCAA College Football, LaLiga, League Cup, LIGA MX, Ligue 1, Men’s College Basketball, MLB, MLS, NBA, NFL, NHL, NWSL, Premier League, Serie A, WNBA, and Women’s College Basketball.

You can download the Apple Sports app on the App Store on your iPhone 16 and other supported phones.

Apple’s next app may tell you where the party is

In December, code discovered in the previously released iOS 18 beta 2 indicated Apple plans to launch a new app designed for party planners. This new app could be unveiled to the public by the end of this week, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

Code-named "Confetti," the app is expected to be an iCloud-based service for managing events and invitations. It will offer Apple users a new way to invite people to meetings, parties, and other gatherings.

Nomad’s glowing Apple Watch band looks outrageous, but that’s not why I love it

Since my Apple Watch Series 10 arrived I’ve worn it with Apple’s Milanese Loop band, which is easily one of the best you can buy, but when Nomad announced a new glow-in-the-dark Sport Band, I thought it was time for a change. Turns out, getting it to glow was a bit of a challenge, and while it looks as outrageous as you'd expect, I found I like it for a different reason.

I’ll come to the glow in the dark bit next, but for me to even think about wearing Nomad’s Sport Band it had to come at least close to the Milanese Loop’s comfort. I’m very pleased to say it does, and it’s an interesting alternative to Apple’s own Sport Band. The fluoroelastemer rubber material is surprisingly thick and therefore feels very durable. I could wear it for any sport or activity and not worry about it.

High blood pressure monitoring may finally come to the Apple Watch in 2025

The Apple Watch is no longer just a smart wearable that doubles as a status symbol. The wrist-based powerhouse is capable of saving lives thanks to a bevy of different features, but there's one area — blood pressure readings — that Apple has never been able to crack. Now, a new rumor hints that the necessary sensors could come to the Apple Watch Series 11 and the Apple Watch Ultra 3.

It's a technology that Apple has tried to crack for a while now, but Mark Gurman said in his Power On! newsletter that we might see blood pressure sensors in the next iteration of the Apple Watch. Based on these early reports, the Apple Watch Series 11 and Ultra 3 will be able to alert users when their blood pressure is too high.
