Should you buy the Google Pixel Fold?

You know that you can buy the phone, but does that mean that you should? It really depends, of course! Here, we present arguments both for and against taking this deal.

Buy the Google Pixel Fold

The arguments in favor of buying a Google Pixel Fold are plentiful. It has long been considered one of the best smartphones on the market, just recently having been cycled off the list for shiny newcomers like the Google Pixel 8 Pro. It has an OLED screen with an admittedly weird 1080 x 2092p screen, sporting a 120Hz refresh rate, still quite high for a phone. It also has an inner display, of course, that stretches 7.6 inches from corner to corner and hits 1840 x 2208p. From our Google Pixel Fold review, or really any user of the phone, you’ll see that the Google Pixel Fold has a truly wonderful camera. Look at this flower, captured during the aforementioned review:

Overall, the phone feels smooth and cool to use, a result of the delightful combination of its G2 chip and that 120Hz refresh rate. You’ll get at least a day’s usage out of a fully charged battery, and can go quite beyond that if you use every energy-saving feature of the phone. This means that, even using all of this power and multiple screens, the Google Pixel Fold will still hold up to all of your needs.

Don’t buy the Google Pixel Fold

If you’re skeptical of the Google Pixel Fold, that’s okay too. As it turns out, when we compare the Google Pixel Fold vs the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, it is anybody’s game! While the Google Pixel Fold has clearly better cameras, delivers faster wired charging, and provides machine learning-powered photographic tools, it can be a bit clumsy to hold. All of this is to say that you might want to consider this deal on an unlocked Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 with 256GB of storage as well. The deal isn’t at good (it’s only $100 off) but it’s worth considering in the context of buying a Google Pixel Fold.

Google Pixel Watch 2 -- $200 $250 20% off

We were impressed in our Google Pixel Watch 2 review. We called it a “huge upgrade, offering better performance, battery, and more.” It offers “slick, fast performance” along with “comprehensive fitness tracking.” That’s thanks to Fitbit’s most accurate heart rate tracking, its body-response feature, and even skin temperature changes, as well as the now typical fitness tracking tools and the ECG app. It offers 24 hours of battery life from one charge, while its gorgeous design is more watch-like so it looks good on your wrist. It also has Google AI built-in and it has safety features like fall detection, an emergency SOS tool, and Safety Check where your watch shares your location with close contacts in the event of any issues.

For the holiday season, it's a great idea to take advantage of the available phone deals for an upgrade. If you're an Android fan, you should check out this offer from Best Buy for the Google Pixel 9, which was just launched a few months ago. The smartphone's 128GB model is on sale with a $150 discount that brings its price down to a more affordable $649 from $799. You're going to want to hurry with your purchase if you're interested though, as we're not sure how much time is remaining before this bargain gets taken down.

Why you should buy the Google Pixel 9
While the spotlight is shining mostly on its larger and more advanced siblings -- the Google Pixel 9 Pro and the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL -- the Google Pixel 9 still makes our list of the best Android phones as the best small Android phone. With a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars, we described it as "one of the best Pixel phones Google has ever made" in our review. It's designed to harness the capabilities of Gemini AI, but even if you don't use the technology regularly, the Google Pixel 9 is still a great smartphone.
