Flagship Samsung phone pics leak, has super AMOLED display

For those disappointed by the look of the Nexus S, check this out. Engadget has obtained a corporate slide showing a new “flagship” Android phone from Samsung. While it could be a fake, the slide shows an extremely sleek and thin phone running Android Gingerbread and Google cloud services. The device’s super AMOLED2 screen measures 4.3-4.5 inches, a bit larger than Motorola’s Droid X. We don’t know the states of sAMOLED2, but we assume it’s nicer than the standard AMOLED screens on current generation Galaxy S phones. The device is set to launch in the first half of 2011.

The phone will also have 16 GB of onboard storage, an 8 megapixel camera that can record 1080p video, has a 1.2 GHz processor, Bluetooth 3.0, and 14.4 Mbps HSPA network connection. Samsung’s Galaxy S series has performed quite well, with more than 7 million units shipped in the United States so far.

Like Galaxy S phones, the design appears to borrow heavily from the iPhone. This device, however, appears to mimic the iPhone 4, with a single button on the bottom and silver side paneling. Engadget believes it could debut as early as February, 2011. Samsung may unveil the phone at the Mobile World Congress

The OnePlus 13 has already set an impossible standard for Android phones in 2025

Four weeks into the first month of the year, one thing is clear about smartphones in 2025: this is going to be an extremely competitive year. Whereas some phone makers used to wait until February or March to launch their flagships for the first half of the year, the early launch of the Snapdragon 8 Elite last year has seen all companies launch their products early.

Honor launched the Magic 7 Pro two weeks ago, followed by Samsung with the Galaxy S25 series last week. Before both of these, however, was the launch of the OnePlus 13, a phone that I think is setting the standard for smartphones in 2025 in so many ways.

Samsung’s next budget phone will charge faster than the Galaxy S25

Budget smartphones tend to draw less charging power than their flagship counterparts, leading to a long charging time. However, the FCC confirmed that Samsung's upcoming affordable offer, the Samsung Galaxy A56, will charge a little bit faster than the Samsung Galaxy S25.

Per a report from GSMArena, the FCC confirmed in a leaked document that the Galaxy A56 will support 45-watt charging, which might help it charge a little quicker than the Galaxy S25. This comes from the "status information" screenshot showing that the budget Galaxy model is rated for 10 volts at 4.5 amps, directly translating it to 45W of battery charging power.

The OnePlus 13 has ruined Android phones for me
A person holding the OnePlus 13.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is going to be my primary smartphone for at least the next few weeks, and I’m coming to it from the OnePlus 13. I first put my SIM card in the OnePlus 13 three months ago, and no one has been able to wrestle it from my hands since. For me, this is an astonishingly long time to use an Android phone, and it speaks volumes about what a superb phone it is.

I'll be using the Galaxy S25 Ultra for the next few weeks, but I'm going to miss the OnePlus 13. Here's why.
Why so long?
