A colorful deal? Save $500 on the OnePlus Open today, but color matters

If the first thing you think of when you think of a folding phone is the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold or the Samsung Galaxy Fold 6, it is time to broaden your horizons. Why? The OnePlus Open, considered to be one of the best folding phones, is a little older but still a worthy contender. And today, you can save $500 or more off of its usual $1,700 price.

However, where you should buy it depends on which color variation you want — Emerald Dusk (green) or Voyager Black. For the green variation, you can get the phone for $1,200 at either Amazon or Best Buy, saving you $500. The black version, however, is selling for $1,092 at Amazon. Despite not being labelled as a deal, the black version is $108 cheaper on Amazon than Best Buy and $608 cheaper than Best Buy’s regular price. And, surprisingly, the colors do matter a tad.

Tap the appropriate button below get the correct phone if you already know what you want or read more to learn about the phone and how the color choice matters.

Why you should buy the OnePlus Open

No matter what color you get, the OnePlus Open on sale today is the 16GB of RAM, 512GB of storage version. Our OnePlus Open review discusses the ins and outs of using the phone in detail, though we were particularly impressed with the phone’s AMOLED screens, Open Canvas feature that allows for multi-window operation, and 1% to 100% battery power in 42 minutes of charging time. The hinge opens easily, however, and if you’re the type that wants to open yours in any angle other that a full 180 that might prove somewhat annoying. But if you’re an “it’s either open or closed” kind of person, this will only be a minor hitch.

Now onto the color variations. The black has a textured “leather” sort of appearance, while the green is a standard light metallic coloration. You can refer to the official OnePlus Open spec sheet to see the full list of differences in absolute, but the short summary is the green is slightly thinner but weighs ever so slightly more. You might be able to get a marginally better grip on the textured surface of the black variant, but this deal comes down to style over substance. Well, style and price, as you can get the black version a bit cheaper today.

No matter what color you choose, the OnePlus Open has a great deal today. If you’re going for the Emerald Dusk color, which is green, you can buy it at either Amazon or Best Buy for $1,200. That’s a savings of $500 off of the usual $1,700 price. Meanwhile, if you want the Voyager Black you should purchase the phone at Amazon, where the black version has a special price of just $1,092 as a “regular price.” That’s a savings of $608 and the best way to get the phone today.
