I found the best folding phone deal for Cyber Monday, and it’s not even close

Folding phones have come a long way in a very short time. In 2024, there are numerous foldables to choose from, many of which are really darn good. Unfortunately, a lot of them are still very expensive — making them out of reach for most people. Thankfully, that’s changed (at least temporarily) with a Black Friday discount on the OnePlus Open.

Launched in October 2023, the OnePlus Open isn’t the newest folding phone on the market today, but it remains one of the best. We happily recommend it at its normal retail price of $1,700, but for Black Friday and Cyber Monday, it can be yours for just $1,200 — a very healthy savings of $500.

$1,200 isn’t necessarily “cheap,” but it is the lowest price we’ve ever seen for the OnePlus Open. If you’ve been thinking about buying a folding phone but have kept putting it off, you won’t find a better time to finally pull the trigger.

So, what about the OnePlus Open makes it the folding phone to buy on Black Friday? For me, it all starts with the design. The OnePlus Open’s 6.31-inch cover screen is wider than the one on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, meaning it feels much more like a “normal” phone. I find it easier and more comfortable to navigate than competing foldables.

The giant camera bump on the back is great, too. You may not immediately love its aesthetics, but when you’re holding the Open, the camera is positioned perfectly so that it rests on top of your finger while holding the phone. It’s a small detail, but I find that it makes holding the OnePlus Open considerably easier than the Z Fold 6 and Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

When you “open” the OnePlus Open, you have an outstanding 7.82-inch AMOLED panel. It’s larger than the one on the Z Fold 6, is incredibly sharp and colorful, and has an anti-reflective layer that does an excellent job of minimizing glare and reflections.

Software is another reason I prefer using the OnePlus Open over other foldables — specifically, OnePlus’ Open Canvas multitasking system. Let’s say you have two apps open running side-by-side and want to open a third. When you do, Open Canvas pushes your other two apps out of view and shows your third app in a mostly full-screen view.

Want to go back to your other two apps? Just tap on one of them. Nadeem’s video above shows how it works in action. It’s an ingenious way to multitask without squishing apps into teeny tiny windows, and it’s a huge boon over multitasking systems on other foldables.

There’s lots more to say about the OnePlus Open. Battery life is reliable, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip remains incredibly capable for whatever you throw at it, the cameras are excellent, and the 67W wired charging is the fastest on a folding phone in the U.S.

Are there other folding phones on sale for Black Friday and Cyber Monday? Absolutely. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 can be purchased for $1,318 ($582 off) and the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is available for $1,499 ($300 off). Those are tempting offers, certainly, but I still think the OnePlus Open is the better purchase.

If I was in the market for a folding phone, this is the one I would buy. I’ve had a tremendous time using the OnePlus Open this year, and at $1,200, it really is an incredible deal. Don’t let this one slip by.

The best item tracker for Apple devices is on sale for Cyber Monday
An AirTag attached on a keyring

Do you have a tendency to misplace or forget your items? I certainly do, and I know I’m not the only one. Thankfully, I primarily use Apple products, like the iPhone 16 Pro, and Apple has its own item tracker. It's the Apple AirTag, and you can grab a four-pack for cheap during this year's Cyber Monday sales, as Amazon has it for $73, down from the usual $99 price.

AirTags are small and discreet pucks that can fit pretty much anywhere. In your purse, wallet, luggage, jacket, or whatever else. You can even put them on your keys, but you need an AirTag holder for that. There are plenty of AirTag accessories on the market, so whatever style you’re looking for, you’ll probably find something that matches your style and personality for your keys.

Our Top Pick: Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ -- $200 $270 26% off

The Samsung Tab A9+ is a great lower-to-mid-range option with an 11-inch screen and a 1920 x 1200, making it a great streaming device for just $200, instead of the usual $270. It also comes with the very reasonable Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 CPU, a 128GB of storage, and 8GB of RAM.
