Yellowstone season 5, part 2 (November 10)

Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 Teaser | 'Generations'

Fans have waited a full two years to finally see the conclusion to this story. Yellowstone took the TV world by storm when it premiered in 2018. The neo-Western drama follows the Dutton family navigating complications on the ranch that has been in their family for centuries. No one is a match, however, for the fierce, cunning patriarch John Dutton III (Kevin Costner) who will protect his land, and his family, at all costs.

While Yellowstone might be coming to an end with this second part of the fifth season, the story lives on through a myriad of spinoffs. There’s prequel series 1883, which aired from 2021-2022; another prequel called 1923, which will return for a second and final season; an in-development sequel called The Madison, which is set to premiere in 2025; a spinoff called 6666 that is purportedly in development; and a sequel to 1923 called 1944 that may also be in development. It all started with Yellowstone, but be prepared to fill your TV schedule with Dutton content for the foreseeable future after this main show ends.

Bad Sisters season 2 (November 13)

BAD SISTERS Season 2 Trailer (2024)

The recipient of four Primetime Emmy Award nominations for its first season, Bad Sisters is a hilariously dark black comedy about five siblings in Dublin navigating a life insurance investigation involving the death of one sibling’s husband. He was abusive and controlling, and the story, told through present-day scenes and flashbacks, has you consistently guessing what happened to him. When four of the sisters hatch a secret plan to kill John Paul (Claes Bang), unbeknownst to their meek and scared sister, Grace (Anne-Marie Duff), things don’t quite go as planned. They don’t really know anything about how to commit a murder, and their hapless attempts are foiled at every turn. Whether they were successful or not is unknown until the end. Even so, insurance agent Tom (Brian Gleeson), desperate to save his flailing business, is constantly on their tails, determined to prove the siblings were involved so he can avoid a big payout.

With the mystery of who killed John Paul solved by the end of the first season in a shocking twist, fans are eager to see the drama continue to unfold as the sisters try to move on with their lives, which is easier said than done. Drawing similarities to shows like Big Little Lies, Bad Sisters centers around the sisters and their unique family dynamic, forever bonded by both loyalty and darkness.

Cross (November 14)

CROSS - Official Trailer | Prime Video

Aldis Hodge plays the titular character, Alex Cross, who was introduced in the James Patterson novel series. The character has gotten several Hollywood treatments already, having previously been played by Morgan Freeman in Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider and Tyler Perry in the 2012 movie Alex Cross. This crime thriller takes the story to an episodic format and follows his life as both a detective and forensic psychologist and a father and family man grieving the loss of his wife. Obsessed with diving into the minds of both killers and victims, Cross’ casework often consumes him.

With 32 books in the series, there’s a lot of story to be told in Cross. If you love shows like Reacher and Mindhunter, Cross is a beautiful mix of both action-packed, edge-of-your-seat tension and psychological intrigue as the captivating character dives into the psyches of the most heinous sociopaths.

Netflix

Cobra Kai may be ending, but it’s world of karate will continue with the upcoming sixth movie Karate Kid: Legends starring Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio, set for release in 2025. That will be a nice follow-up to Cobra Kai, which will officially conclude its run in 2025. For now, catch up with the penultimate selection of five new episodes in part 2 of the sixth and final season.

Picking up 30 years after the events in The Karate Kid, Cobra Kai follows Daniel LaRusso (Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) as they reunite, try to squash old beefs, and train a new generation of karate kids. Now that they’re finally working together (albeit reluctantly), the worldwide Sekai Taikai tournament that puts the All-Valley to shame is about to get underway, and tensions are high. Cameos from actors reprising their roles from the original movies, an engaging cast of new characters, and a corny, yet deeply entertaining story has Cobra Kai sparking nostalgia for anyone who grew up in the 1980s.

Cobra Kai became the little YouTube Red (now Premium) show that could, exploding into an Emmy-nominated Netflix acquisition with a loyal legion of fans. The end is bittersweet and these new episodes set the story up for its ultimate conclusion next year.

Silo season 2 (November 15)

Silo — Season 2 Official Trailer | Apple TV+

Juliette Nichols (Rebecca Ferguson) didn’t, as residents of the underground silos are made to believe, die once she was forced outside in the first season of Silo. Alive and struggling to discover what’s really going on, she’ll stop at nothing to expose the truth. This sci-fi drama based on the Silo trilogy of novels by Hugh Howey is set in a dystopian future where survivors of a supposed catastrophic event on Earth have been living in elaborate underground silos for decades.

Not much has changed about this world, however, which remains a class-based system with the lowly residents living on the bottom floors and the most important on the top. When Juliette, who works as an engineer on the lowest level, loses her friend to a supposed suicide, but suspects not all is what it seems, she investigates, despite the danger it puts her in.

The first season ended with a major cliffhanger that reinforces the belief that these silos aren’t necessary for survival, but part of a sinister plan to control and regulate humanity under the guise of protection. Season 2 of Silo will provide some answers with the same gripping cast that also includes Tim Robbins, Common, David Oyelowo, and Iain Glen.

Based on a True Story, season 2 (November 21)

Ava sits on the floor in a kitchen, blood splattered on the way behind her, in Based on a True Story.
Colleen Hayes / Peacock

A quirky comedy thriller that fans of shows like Only Murders in the Building will love, Based on a True Story centers around Ava Bartlett (Kaley Cuoco) and her husband, Nathan (Chris Messina), a couple just getting by. They’re both worried about being able to provide for their upcoming baby and keeping up with their wealthy, high-society friends. When Ava, who is obsessed with true crime podcasts, thinks she has solved the identity of a serial killer in town and realizes it’s someone she knows, she tries to capitalize on it.

What if they started their own true crime podcast and secured interviews with the killer in exchange for not turning him in? Of course, one condition is that he stops killing as well. They could make a fortune! But as they learn, trying to control a charming, but narcissistic and unhinged serial killer isn’t exactly an easy task.

BASED ON A TRUE STORY Season 2 Teaser (2024) Kaley Cuoco

When someone winds up dead, Ava and Nathan come to terms with the fact that they have bitten off far more than they can chew. They’re in deep trouble and it’s seemingly impossible to get out of it alive or without going to jail. A fun, lighthearted show, despite being about a sociopathic murderer, Based on a True Story is the perfect post-Turkey dinner watch.
