Anytime Bourne, played by Matt Damon, engages in a good ol’-fashioned spy-on-spy scuffle, it’s worth watching. And that’s exactly what he appears to be doing in the latest clip from the film, entitled We Should Work Together. Ironically, though the title would suggest a spirit of camaraderie, things turn sour in this short spot very quickly.
With Bourne busy at a laptop, downloading some key file that the powers that be are trying to keep him away from, his soon-to-be sparring partner suggests they join forces: “We should work together, Bourne … we both want to take down the corrupt institutions that control society.” The reply is simple and cold: “I’m not on your side.”
Well, you know what they say: If you can’t join ’em, beat ’em. The jilted rival’s response is to deliver a blow with a dumbbell directly to Bourne’s jaw (God, that sounds painful). If he was dealing with your average human, it would have been lights out, but as we know, Bourne is anything but average. The blow begins a round of lightning-fast hand-to-hand combat that appears to end with the champion taking down the challenger by way of knockout.
You can watch the 45-second spot above as you wait for Jason Bourne to hit theaters on July 29. The film also stars Tommy Lee Jones (Robert Dewey), Alicia Vikander (Heather Lee), and Julia Stiles (Nicky Parsons).
