Netflix

The year is rapidly coming to a close, but Netflix still has three big original series remaining in 2024. The hit romantic drama Virgin River is returning, and the new action thriller Black Doves will arrive soon. But you’ll have to wait until just after Christmas for Squid Game season 2, the long-anticipated sequel to one of the biggest hits in the history of Netflix.

Other notable arrivals this month include multiple 30 for 30 documentaries, Evil season 3, and Mad Max: Fury Road. To help you make your viewing plans for the month, we’ve put together a complete roundup of what’s new on Netflix in December 2024 and everything that’s leaving at the end of the month. 3 underrated Netflix movies you should watch this weekend (December 13-15)
Two men stand in a hangar in The Infiltrator.

Another week, another comic book movie about to bomb at the movie theater. The once-indestructible genre has experienced more misses than hits lately, but Kraven the Hunter promises to be one of the worst of them all. It's already around 15% on Rotten Tomatoes, and its box office prospects don't look so good.

So why go see it? If you have a Netflix subscription, there are plenty of good movies on there. You've probably already seen It Ends with Us, the most popular movie on Netflix right now, but chances are, you haven't watched the following three films, two of which are leaving Netflix at the end of the month. Save some money and time this weekend and watch an underrated crime drama with Bryan Cranston or a breezy remake with Jude Law.

Beyond the homepage, the streamer's sci-fi genre page features action movies, blockbusters, indies, thrillers, and comedies. There is something for every sci-fi lover. To make your decision easier, read our guide for the best sci-fi movies to watch this month. Is it that time of year already? A new beginning is just around the corner, and for many, it's a time of resolutions, of weight lost and gained, and of promises made and broken. For Netflix, it's just another month packed with quality movies, TV shows, and games.

In January 2025, the streamer will launch several high-profile projects, including a Harlan Coben mystery series, Missing You, Cameron Diaz's comeback movie, Back in Action, season 2 of the action series The Recruit, a new Wallace & Gromit movie, and the new Western series American Primeval. There's also some non-Netflix-produced stuff as well, including all seasons of Younger, the first three Spider-Man films, and the debut of The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live.
