It’s time to say goodbye to Natasha Romanoff. At least, that’s what Scarlett Johansson wants Marvel fans to do.

In an interview with InStyle, Johansson addressed Black Widow’s status in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Natasha famously died in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame when she sacrificed herself to obtain the Soul Stone. Despite the character’s death, fans still believe Natasha could somehow return. Johansson is now setting the record straight.

“Natasha is dead. She is dead. She’s dead. OK?” Johansson said. “They just don’t want to believe it. They’re like, ‘But she could come back!’ Look, I think the balance of the entire universe is held in her hand. We’re going to have to let it go. She saved the world. Let her have her hero moment.”

After Endgame, Johansson reprised her MCU role in 2021 for Black Widow. However, the Black Widow prequel movie remains Johansson’s last appearance in Marvel.

While Johansson confirmed Natasha’s death, the character could appear again, especially with the existence of variants and the multiverse. Look at Gamora, played by Zoe Saldaña. Gamora died in Avengers: Infinity War. However, the 2014 variant of Gamora reappeared in Avengers: Endgame and then Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

The MCU is also building toward 2026’s Avengers: Doomsday and 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars. These films could feature 60 or so MCU characters, so it’s entirely possible that Johansson’s Black Widow could be one of the returning faces. Even if Johansson does return, it will be clouded in secrecy like most Marvel storylines.

For now, Johansson will focus on fighting dinosaurs as the star of Jurassic World Rebirth, opening in theaters on July 2, 2025.

Red Sonja reboot gets an exciting update, release date window revealed
Red Sonja holds a sword on her shoulder.

After two years in post-production, the Red Sonja reboot finally has an exciting update.

Per Deadline, Signature Entertainment has acquired the UK and Irish rights to Red Sonja. The film from Millennium Media is expected to be released later this year.
“Red Sonja epitomizes the kind of film we’re looking for at Signature – an epic story in a fantasy-laden world with a strong commercial feel to its execution, which made it immediately appealing to us," said Signature Entertainment’s Acquisitions Manager Begüm Kayacan Parodi in a statement. "We’re looking forward to introducing UK and Irish audiences to Matilda Lutz’s sword-swinging huntress later this year.”
Red Sonja is based on the comic book series by writer Roy Thomas and artist Barry Windsor-Smith. Robert E. Howard's Red Sonya of Rogatino in the short story The Shadow of the Vulture partially inspired Red Sonja. The fantasy movie follows Red Sonja, a barbarian huntress who united a group of warriors to take on the evil Dragan The Magnificent and his deadly bride, Dark Annisia.
Matilda Lutz headlines Red Sonja as the titular huntress. The rest of the ensemble includes Robert Sheehan, Wallis Day, Michael Bisping, Luca Pasqualino, Rhona Mitra, Martyn Ford, Ben Radcliffe, Eliza Matengu, Veronica Ferres, Phillip Winchester, and Trevor Eve.

Colman Domingo confirms Marvel talks, addresses Kang rumors: ‘I want a role to be mine’
Colman Domingo holds a phone to his ear, and Jonathan Majors sits on a throne.

Ever since Marvel fired Jonathan Majors, Colman Domingo has been rumored to step into the role of Kang the Conqueror.
While speaking with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Domingo set the record straight about his conversations with Marvel. After seeing his name constantly associated with Kang, Domingo and his team reached out to Marvel to see if they were true.
“When it was constantly in the press and on places like Twitter, I was like, ‘Wait a minute. Is this true? Am I being talked about for Kang?'” Domingo told Horowitz. “I literally called up my team and said, ‘Are you guys having conversations that I have no idea about?’ And they said no. ‘Are you guys being cagey or what?’ They weren’t.

"There had been conversations about me coming into Marvel in some way, so we did follow up with a sit-down meeting with the heads of Marvel. So I did do that. We talked openly about the landscape of Marvel and the Kang rumors."
As Kang the Conqueror, Majors was set to become the MCU's next big villain, following in the footsteps of Josh Brolin's Thanos. In December 2023, Marvel fired Majors after he was convicted of reckless assault and harassment. Without Majors, Marvel needed a new actor to play the villain in the previously titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
