David Hasselhoff, Penn & Teller, Frankie Muniz, highlight New Sharknado 3 teaser cameos

Judging by the latest teaser for Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! the celebrity cameos could very well outnumber the sharks in the third installment of the ridiculous SyFy movie franchise predicated on the notion that the only thing more dangerous than sharks or storms is a storm filled with sharks.

After going all-in on Mark Cuban’s cameo in the first preview for Sharknado 3, the new teaser for the film tosses out all pretense of the film actually having a plot and runs through a portion of the long list of celebrities that will be making an appearance in the film (likely to kill or be killed by an airborne oceanic predator). Shark fans needn’t worry, though, as the 30-second preview offers an assurance that there will indeed be a few sharks in the film, too.

Among the cameos given the spotlight in the new teaser are appearances by Malcolm in the Middle actor Frankie Muniz, Penn & Teller, Grammy-winning musician Ne-Yo, NASCAR drivers Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano, Today hosts Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb, and NSYNC singer Chris Kirkpatrick. They’re joined by returning cast members Ian Ziering, Tara Reid, and Cassie Scerbo, as well as new featured cast members David Hasselhoff, Bo Derek, and Nickelodeon stars Ryan Newman and Jack Griffo. Hasselhoff will play the father of Ziering’s character, while Derek will play the mother of Reid’s character.

And while that might seem like a lot of cameos to cram into one made-for-television movie, it’s only a sampling of the actors, musicians, and questionably categorized “celebrities” that lined up for a role in the film.

From the political cameo contingent, controversial right-wing pundit Ann Coulter will join Cuban in the film’s White House as the Vice-President and President of the U.S., respectively, with former Congressional representatives Michele Bachmann and Anthony Weiner also making cameos in the film. Musicians Jedward and Ray J will also appear in Sharknado 3, along with author Jackie Collins, Hulk actor Lou Ferrigno, former MythBusters host Grant Imahara, professional wrestler Chris Jericho, talk show host Jerry Springer, Shahs of Sunset star Reza Farahan, Comcast SportsNet’s Brian Mitchell, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kim Richards, The Girls Next Door actresses Holly Madison and Kendra Wilkinson, NFL players Ryan Kerrigan and Tom Compton, and ESPN commentators and reporters Michelle Beadle, Marcellus Wiley, and Max Kellerman.

The third installment of the franchise that began with 2013’s viral hit Sharknado, the new film has yet another shark-filled storm terrorizing the country. After making landfall in Washington, D.C., the storm heads down the Eastern Seaboard before landing in tourist-friendly Orlando, Florida.

Basically, the sharks are going to eat well this time around.

Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! premieres Wednesday, July 22, at 9pm ET on SyFy.

Mythic Quest has been canceled at Apple TV+, but fans will get one more episode

After being one of the first shows to come out of Apple TV+, Mythic Quest has been canceled following its fourth season, according to reporting from Variety. The publication is also reporting that an updated finale episode with a new ending will be available on Apple TV+ next week, giving the show a chance to end properly. The show's season 4 finale first aired on March 26.

“Endings are hard. But after four incredible seasons, ‘Mythic Quest’ is coming to a close,” said executive producers Megan Ganz, David Hornsby, and Rob McElhenney. “We’re so proud of the show and the world we got to build—and deeply grateful to every cast and crew member who poured their heart into it. To all our fans, thank you for playing with us. To our partners at Apple, thank you for believing in the vision from the very beginning. Because endings are hard, with Apple’s blessing we made one final update to our last episode—so we could say goodbye, instead of just game over.”

The Pitt hit a 10 million viewer average across its first season

Now that its first season is in the books, we keep getting more evidence that The Pitt was a bona fide hit for Max. Variety is reporting that the hospital drama averaged 10 million viewers across the first 14 episodes of its first season, according to Warner Bros. Discovery. This number is the average number of people who watched the show both when it premiered and in the days afterward, as opposed to on the day of each episode's release.

WBD also said that the first episode has now hit 16.2 million viewers and that each episode has outperformed the previous one in night-of viewership for 13 straight weeks. The release of these viewership numbers is atypical for WBD, which typically only releases viewership numbers for shows that also air on HBO. WBD likely shared these numbers because of how successful The Pitt has been.
