Skeleton Crew is a coming-of-age Star Wars adventure with a new crop of heroes. Four children — Wim (Ravi Cabot-Conyers), Fern (Ryan Kiera Armstrong), KB (Kyriana Kratter), and Neel (Robert Timothy Smith) — find themselves lost in the galaxy, and team up with Jod Na Nawood (Jude Law), a Force-user who cuts a deal with the kids to bring them home. It won’t be easy, with villainous space pirates at every turn.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’s ensemble also includes Tunde Adebimpe, Kerry Condon, Jaleel White, and Nick Frost as the voice of SM 33.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is created and executive produced by Watts and Christopher Ford. The duo previously collaborated on Spider-Man: Homecoming. Additional executive producers include Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy and Star Wars veterans Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni.

Dune director Denis Villeneuve isn’t interested in making a Star Wars movie
Denis Villeneuve sitting with Rebecca Ferguson on the set of "Dune: Part Two."

If there's one thing that director Denis Villeneuve has proven, it's that he is capable of pulling off large-scale sci-fi films better than almost any other working filmmaker. He first demonstrated that when he dipped his toes into the sci-fi genre with 2016's Arrival and did so again a year later when he helmed Blade Runner 2049. His back-to-back efforts directing Dune: Part One and Dune: Part Two have subsequently cemented his status as one of the best sci-fi artists in Hollywood right now.

Despite that, Villeneuve has no interest in ever directing an installment in Hollywood's biggest and most prized sci-fi franchise, Star Wars. The filmmaker revealed as much during a podcast appearance on The Town when he discussed not only the life-changing impact that 1977's Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope and 1980's Empire Strikes Back had on him as a child, but also how disappointed he was by 1983's Return of the Jedi.

Andor creator says season 1’s success has given him complete creative freedom
Cassian stands by a hillside in Andor season 1.

When it premiered in late 2022, Andor's first season quickly emerged as one of the most critically acclaimed Star Wars titles of Lucasfilm's entire Disney-owned era. The show went on to earn eight Emmy nominations, including one for Outstanding Drama Series. According to Andor creator Tony Gilroy, the Rogue One prequel's extremely positive reception has helped him convince Disney and Lucasfilm to follow his vision for its second and final season.

Speaking with Empire, Gilroy told the outlet, "The critical appreciation of the show was really helpful, if not essential, in helping Disney choke down the price of what this is." Andor season 1 reportedly had a sizable budget of $250 million, and it seems likely, based on Gilroy's comments, that the show's second season will end up costing the same amount or more. Unlike some other blockbuster shows of the past few years, though, most Andor fans would argue that its first season's budget was used well and visible in every one of its episodes.
