Netflix released a new trailer for the fourth season of Stranger Things that’s light on story details but big on revelations — chief among them (pun totally intended) is the return of David Harbour as Hawkins’ head of police, Jim Hopper.

Harbour’s character was seemingly killed at the end of season 3, sacrificing himself to save Hawkins — and quite possibly the world — by closing a portal to the dark, alternate dimension known as the Upside Down. However, a post-credits scene that mentioned a mysterious American prisoner being held in a Russian facility led many to believe Hopper’s story was far from over.

The new Stranger Things season 4 trailer confirms Harbour’s return as Hopper, and shows the former Hawkins police chief working on a railroad as part of a prison labor crew.

How Hopper ended up in Russia remains a mystery, however.

Across three wildly successful seasons, Stranger Things has been the most popular series on Netflix each year a new season premieres, and remains among the streaming service’s most widely watched original programs. The series follows a group of children from the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana, who find themselves at the center of a dangerous conflict when scientists there open a portal to an alternate dimension that’s a dark mirror of our own.

There’s no official word on when season 4 of Stranger Things will premiere, but the series is widely expected to premiere in 2021.

The Duffer Brothers are staying at Netflix for another horror series. The Stranger Things creators and Hilary Leavitt will executive produce Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen, a horror drama from series creator Haley Z. Boston.

“We were knocked flat when we first read Haley’s script," the Duffer Brothers told Netflix in a statement. "She is a major new talent with a singular voice -- her writing is twisted, terrifying, funny, and just … very Haley. We feel so lucky to be producing her first show, and we can’t wait to share her vision with the rest of the world.”

It's almost time to return to Hawkins, as Stranger Things season 5 is halfway through filming. To commemorate the eighth anniversary of Stranger Things on July 15, Netflix released a first-look video of Stranger Things 5, complete with a behind-the-scenes peek at filming and interviews with the cast and crew.

"Season 4 was big. Season 5 definitely feels bigger," Jamie Campbell Bower, who plays Henry Creel/Vecna, says in the video. The nearly two-minute clip features shots of the core four — Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), Dustin (Gates Matarazzo), and Will (Noah Schnapp) — together again. Mille Bobby Brown, who plays Eleven, also reminisces about her 10 years on the show. Other characters in the footage include Nancy (Natalia Dyer), Jonathan (Charlie Heaton), Steve (Joe Keery), and Joyce (Winona Ryder).

A boy holds a blindfold and readies to put it around his eyes.

You can witness the rise of the sinister Henry Creel in the trailer for Stranger Things: The First Shadow, the stage play based on Netflix's hit sci-fi series.

It's 1959, and the Creel family is looking for a fresh start in Hawkins, Indiana. “It’s not real. I’m normal,” Henry ominously says in the footage. As the trailer progresses, Henry remains tormented by his telekinesis, eventually winding up at the Hawkins National Laboratory, the site where he will transform into 001, aka Vecna.
