What’s new on Tubi this month? All three Rush Hour movies, including the original, are now streaming. All have funny moments, but Rush Hour is the best one. If you thought Bring It On was the only film about cheerleading, think again. Bring It On and its five sequels are available to stream. After the original, watch the franchise’s best sequel, Bring It On: All Or Nothing.

What’s great about Tubi is that access to its extensive library does not cost a dime. Tubi is a FAST service — free ad-supported streaming. Download the app and watch thousands of movies and TV shows for free. The trade-off is ads will run during each program. If you’re new to Tubi, start in the action genre and watch one of these three films: a dystopian thriller, an underseen reboot, and a 1980s classic.

Mad Max (1979)

Roadshow Film Distributors

Earlier this year, George Miller revisited the Wasteland in Furiosa: A Mad Max Story, a prequel to Fury Road. How did Max go mad, you ask? Revisit the titular character’s origin story in the franchise’s first film, Mad Max. Civilization is on the brink of collapse in a dystopian Australia, with oil becoming the most sought-after resource.

Max Rockatansky (Mel Gibson) is still trying to keep order as an officer with the Main Force Patrol. Max represents the last semblance of the law and the only thing standing in the way of a sadistic biker gang ruling the Wasteland. The entire film builds toward the moment Max becomes “mad.” When that happens, an anti-hero is born, one who will become the face of Miller’s excellent action franchise.

Tomb Raider (2018)

Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft holds a bow and arrow in Tomb Raider.
Warner Bros. Pictures

Tomb Raider remains extremely popular nearly 30 years after it was first released as a video game. This year, the animated series, Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, premiered on Netflix, and Amazon just cast Sophie Turner in the main role of its upcoming live-action TV show. While Angelina Jolie receives the most recognition for her Tomb Raider movies, don’t sleep on Alicia Vikander’s Tomb Raider reboot from 2018.

Years after her father’s (Dominic West) disappearance, Lara Croft (Vikander) uncovers a major clue about where he was headed. The elder Croft was researching a queen named Himiko, whose tomb might be on the secret island of Yamatai in the Devil’s Sea. Determined to find her father, Lara embarks on a dangerous adventure to Yamatai and quickly discovers she’s not the only one looking for Himiko. Vikander comes off as a legitimate and believable adventurer in this highly entertaining action movie.

Die Hard (1988)

Bruce Willis as John McClane in Die Hard, crawling through a vent with a bloody face and a lighter in his hand.
20th Century Fox

Just because something is obvious does not mean it should be excluded from the list. Die Hard is one of the most influential action movies ever made. It’s streaming on Tubi; therefore, it’s an automatic add to the list. Directed by John McTiernan, Die Hard stars Bruce Willis as John McClane, an NYPD cop visiting his estranged wife, Holly (Bonnie Bedelia), at her company’s Christmas party in Los Angeles.

Season’s greetings come in the form of terrorists, who hijack the building and take the guests hostage. Led by Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman), the terrorists plan to steal the $640 million in bearer bonds located in the building’s vault. Hans remains two steps ahead of the authorities. However, he didn’t plan for McClane, who becomes a one-man army in his quest to thwart the robbery and save his wife. Remember: Die Hard is a Christmas movie, so watch it during the holiday season.

Bruce Willis in Die Hard 2.

Sometimes, the Christmas season means Christmas action movies on Hulu. Especially if the streamer has Die Hard for the holidays, as it does this year. But since everyone talks about Die Hard as a Christmas film, we decided to go with Die Hard 2 -- which is also set at Christmas -- as one of the three action movies on Hulu that you need to watch in December.

Our other picks include the film that made Keanu Reeves an action star five years before The Matrix, as well as the movie that gave Russell Crowe his first -- and to date, only -- Oscar win for Best Actor.
