According to a recently posted video teaser from the Chinese drone giant, as well as numerous leaks that have appeared over recent months, the new flying machine is aimed at those with a need for speed, with included first-person-view (FPV) goggles giving pilots the opportunity to really feel like they are part of the action. Even more intriguing is the rumor that DJI will also be launching an optional motion controller that will let you fly the new drone with a single hand, removing the need for a two-handed dual-stick controller.

While most of DJI’s consumer drones focus heavily on photography and video capture, the incoming quadcopter will give pilots the ability to fly at high speed, though that certainly doesn’t mean the company has shoved the new drone’s camera technology down the priority list. DJI has already confirmed that the device’s advanced camera will be capable of shooting 4K video at 60 frames per second, paving the way for pilots to produce some pretty dramatic airborne footage, which may or may not include wince-inducing crashes.

How to watch

DJI’s unveil event will start at 9.a.m. ET on Tuesday, March 2.

Expect plenty of tantalizing close-ups of the new machine, together with a full rundown of the specs and information on pricing. We should also be treated to plenty of high-speed action footage captured by the new drone’s on-board camera.

To view DJI’s launch event in real time, simply hit the play button on the embedded viewer at the top of this page at 9 a.m. ET on Tuesday, or head over to DJI’s YouTube channel for the same feed.
