On this special CES 2016 episode of Trends with Benefits, Digital Trends correspondents call in from Las Vegas to talk about the future of tech, discuss their picks for the Top Tech of CES 2016 Digital Trends Awards, and give us a behind-the-scenes look at what it’s like to attend one of the world’s biggest trade shows.
Drew Prindle was one of the lucky few to try on the Genworth R701 Exoskeleton, but this suit isn’t designed to turn you into a version of Iron Man. It’s made to do the exact opposite. It allows young, healthy people to understand some of the difficulties that the elderly deal with every day by disabling them in a number of ways. Yes, really.
In addition to all of the usual companies you would expect at CES, startups showcase their innovations at a special part of the show called Eureka Park. Rick Stella explains his Sports & Fitness pick for our Top Tech of CES 2016 Award: The FITguard. It’s essentially a “smart” mouth guard that can help predict concussions, and it could potentially prevent injuries to athletes, and maybe even save lives.
Ryan Waniata is reporting on a lot of amazing tech at CES, and also fulfilling lifelong dreams. He’ll explain it, but there is a reason that CES will never leave its home of Las Vegas.
His award for the Home Audio category goes to a product that is revolutionizing a segment that receives little attention. Doppler Labs Here Active Listening earbuds, are earplugs that can not only block out a crying baby on an airplane, it can actually accentuate your hearing. They allow you to create your own “audio mix” for the world around you.
What would it be like to give a CES 2016 tour to some of the top CEOs in entertainment? Caleb Denison knows and while it went great, it’s not surprisingly a little intimidating.
The winner of the Home Video category was the Panasonic DMP-UB900 Ultra HD Blu-ray Player. It’s an incredible player that will do great things for 4K televisions, and the bonus is that will be available next year.
Hidden in a secret room off of the show floor, Caleb also discovered an elusive gem: a real, in-the-flesh rollable OLED TV. It’s everything you would dream of, and one of the best examples of why CES is always so exciting.
Today’s episode features Drew Prindle, Rick Stella, Ryan Waniata, Caleb Denison and Greg Nibler.
